Other choices for you -
Baan Hua Hin Soi 94
Cha Ba guest house - centre location.
Another one on soi 88 which is great value, 2 friends have stayed there and really thought it was great. will try and get the name for you.

Good luck

Your best bet is to book somewhere for a couple of days and then look for somewhere long term after you get here.

Prices in Hua Hin are generally higher than most other places in Thailand.

I haven't a clue what the Amara Inn is like, but you would have to be keen on hiking to walk anywhere from there; it's way out.You would be better off staying in town for a couple of days and looking around for a rental house.

Amara inn is near where I live.

Never been inside, has pool though.

It's not walkable, 100 Baht each way Tuk Tuk's charge to town.

You'll find some where closer to town for similar price I reckon.

I know several people who have been at Amara Inn and stayed there for several months during winter. Close enough to town, friendly service, and apparently good value for money. One friend leaves her bicyle there and it's "guarded" during her 6 month absence. When she comes back she is presented with a newly cleaned bicycle in tip-top condition.
It all depends on what you want really, personally I would have a look around for a few weeks before booking anywhere long-term.
