Re: Coronavirus Precautions/News/Updates for Hua Hin/Prachuap

Confusion continues to reign after yesterday's convenience store announcement.

I set off for the lake at 9am this morning. All of the 7-11s, Big C Minis, Family Marts and Mini Tesco shops were still open as usual.

All Massage Shops are also still open.

Walking around the lake, I spotted 20 people (not including kids) not wearing masks, which included 3 Farangs and 6 food vendors.

As I always say, Thais will always do what Thais want to do. On masks alone, on just 1 circuit of the lake there was 400,000฿ just waiting to be claimed. People would soon get the message.

COVID-19 Situation on 25th April 2021
Hua Hin District only

Last week : 414 cases(to Sat 17)
This week : 143 cases(to Sat 24)

Down 65%

Or, there were only a third of the number of cases this week versus the week before

Appreciate the numbers nationally are rising so we are really bucking the trend....... at the moment!

I don't often support the actions of the Governor of PKK (but always comply). However, this time, PKK was the first province to take action because the other provinces seemed to be concerned about disrupting Songkran; and our restrictions were harsher than other provinces. His early/harsher action is paying dividends at the moment.

Lets just hope he continues to get it right, and doesn't let the super-powers delegated by the PM last night go to his head.

I read elsewhere that convenience stores can open from 5am to 10pm. This is just for provinces in red zones (ie Prachuab) and is effective until May 2nd 2021. (It's from a rival source yesterday, so I won't quote it).

Clearly, either the above or BB's source is incorrect.

My source is TAT, which is supposed to be the 'go to' place for Farangs to receive the truth :?

[Edit] I've just read the text that goes with the infographic, and it does state:
All convenience marts, including those that normally open 24/7, will open from 05.00-22.00 Hrs.
So I guess there's a typo somewhere :banghead:

As per my post below, I wondered if anyone who is based in Cha am is keeping an eye on the weekly numbers there

Are they falling like Hua Hin? Or maybe they are lagging behind

Be interested to know, thanks

In my opinion, this is starting to get a little ridiculous. The health service does not have capacity. The government does not have the finances to buy vaccines from the best and most reputable companies, but Thailand will be saved by an hour or two shorter opening hours in shopping centers.

Left to right: new cases, total cases, recovered, total deaths.

In yesterday's picture the 771 figure is the number in treatment. Underneath this in small text it says mild or no symptoms 730. To the right 16 serious cases and 25 moderate cases.Today's figures are the same positions in the second picture.

That table is a little misleading as it is a cumulative total. The actual number of daily cases appears to have fallen from around a hundred to below 20 which is a good thing, is it not?

Of course it is good. I was only pointing out that we'd achieved a sad milestone.
