Putahracsa
My two-hapenny's worth on the Putahracsa
The wife & I had Christmas (Eve) dinner there & were pretty impressed. The food was well cooked & nicely served. The decor is, as someone else wrote, very minimalist & this was underlined by the lack of customers -- only 3 tables in use. The Xmas pud tasted a bit different to puds I've had before -- a little over sweet, as so much is here -- but the dinner was certainly worth the cost -- about 850 each, which compares well with the Hilton & other comparable hotels!
The regular menu is a little too seafood biased for a carnivore like me but the staff were friendly & attentive, & I would certainly consider returning there. My wife (who's in the tourist/hotel business) has been shown the rooms & she says they are very nice -- even the cheaper ones are about 44 sq.m. They are presently building an annex that is right on the seafront, not far from the main building. However, rooms here will be more expensive, of course.
All in all, sounds like a nice place to stay.

We've been here 4 1/2 days now and it is indeed nice, but they have many, many small problems, probably associated with being a new hotel and not opened long.
1) A 1/2 meter gap between the railings at the top of the outside stair landing of the villa rooms. Extremely easy for a child to fall 5 meters to the ground.
2) Each room appears to have it's own small hot water machine rather than a central hot water system. This causes hot then tepid then cold showers as it appears to be set too low. You can hear the unit in the ceiling switch off and on when you use the water. This is not an appropriate system for a hotel charging the rates that it does.
3) On our unit the receptical hole for the door deadbolt is off by 12mm! Not just poor workmanship, but who from management was doing QC during construction?
4) Returned from the kids Xmas party and P2 got a little hungry in the evening. With kids, you don't want to pack off to the restaurant everyday so we use room service frequently. All we wanted for her was 1 scrambled egg on top of a piece of toast. We were denied as 'not on the menu and they didn't know what to charge'. I gave up rather than start a fire storm. The staff is not trained adequately nor do they appear flexible to guests requests if not of a usual nature.
5) Again with a baby, we use the electric hot water kettle in the room very often. It's been leaking water from the bottom screw holes where the heater element is attached since we got here. They have tried to fix it twice. This morning I took it to the front desk full of water, placed it there and let them watch it leak all over the place. They have now finally replaced it, aware we have been lucky not to have been electrocuted.
6) Housekeeping forgets to resupply things like tissue and soap and you have to call to get what you need.
Again, many small things but very frustrating for a place of this caliber. I've talked to the manager, Richard about all already. Hope he listened. Pete

Of course, the good far outweighs the annoying at your establishment and for sure, I've discussed the good points with my Thai and farang friends as well. Not to worry, most times it takes 'outside eyes' to spot these small things.
By the way, I arrived home in Pattaya and found your electronic key card in my pocket. Would you like me to mail it back or simply discard it?
Cheers again and much success. Pete

stayed at the putarascha over new year was realy impressed by the chic look of the hotel . and the staff were exceptionally helpful. on my 2nd night their i twisted my ankle and they did a lot to help me , took me to chemist , brought me ice regularly and just generally helped me get around the hotel. the staff were really friendly and even helped me learn some thai and were a good laugh .
Ah ha...I'm being watched... . Welcome to the forum, Richard. You'll find many useful subjects here about HH and all of Thailand.

Hi Pete,
Sorry for my late reply. I am going thru the list of the 'little' details as we speak and should be ready to attack the room you stayed in... As for the keycard, keep it, you will need it for your next visit (I would hope) to Putahracsa.
Take care, regards to the family and see you soon again.
Richard

I would say it's probably different (and better) now than when we stayed in December. Then, the ocean side beach villas were under construction and no direct access to the beach. Now, with the villas there and if you don't stay in one, I'm sure there is a foot path once you cross the street to the beach side that other guests can use. Makes a big difference. Nice place. Beautiful hotel but expensive.
I found the best price using [ edited, suspect spam ]
It searches over 28 different hotel sites (including HotelClub and AsiaRooms) in one go and then lists them in order of price. You can then click through to book with the hotel site direct.
Hope you find it useful too.
