Maybe I'm being a 'glass half full' type of guy, but I look at the new cases rather than deaths. Death will always be playing catch-up with this virus, and the higher numbers are just in line with the number of cases. New cases, while they'll be a bit up and down, aren't getting out of control, yet.

Agreed!

Especially when death numbers are so subjective(died 'of' or died 'with'??)

And 92 yo with a history of heart disease...

However, deaths of under 60 and no underlying conditions concern me!

Did anyone else spot those Thai/Farang numbers?

I wondered if they were consistent with the population ratio here ? In other words are we farangs catching Covid more or less than the local Thai people? At first glance I thought maybe less, but that was a gut reaction

“Dr Prasit urged people to be strict about wearing face masks, to follow all measures advocated to curb the latest outbreak and to accept vaccination.

"Please get vaccinated," he said. Vaccines would help the country contain the spread of the disease.”

If only it were possible!!

DSI to probe 'fake news'
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has set up a centre to investigate "fake news", which it says could hamper the government's efforts in containing the Covid-19 pandemic.

DSI director-general Korawat Panprapakorn said the task force, which started work on Saturday, is headed by the agency's deputy director-general, Supat Thamthanarak.

The task force, which is in line with the policy of Justice Minister Somsak Thepsutin, will also support the DSI in its investigations allowed under DSI law, he said.

He said fake news has been spreading throughout the Covid crisis, ranging from the promotion of herbs as a cure to drug recommendations by "senior doctors".

The anti-fake news centre will investigate attempts to spread false news to mislead the public about the Covid-19 situation with a focus on online platforms.

It is required to submit reports to the Justice Ministry and those up in the chain of command. No figures were available on the extent of "fake news" being spread online.

Well we seem to have surpassed the UK for the past few days. They of course have vaccines with a majority of the population having been vaccinated. Vaccinations in Thailand are sometime in the future. When? Nobody really knows.
I guess there's worse to come before it gets better.

They could also check out the govts. utterings.

Most of this weekends large outbreak in Bangkok, was in a large poor area. If I were the govt. I'd vaccinate the poor first. They are the most likely to not understand or even know the rules, watch tv news. or read the papers and are the most superstitious group.

The rich can afford to stay in their homes, the poor have to go out on the street and work for food. If the poor were vaccinated it would help to, at least, slow down the spread of the virus. They are the ones who have the most contact with people.

Its a shame these graphics cant be compressed into a single, easy-to-read format as in their current state they take up half the page every day! Maybe we only need the BKK and regional figures for Prachuap, not sure anyone is bothered about Covid cases in Uttaradit.

Here it is at 25 and 50% of actual size which is more presentable and compact. Joelle, you can use http://www.shrinkpictures.com/resize.php to do that. Quite easy: put the image reference from your hard drive in #1, select 25% or 50%, leave #3 alone, and #4 BEST. I think I would go with 50%.

I'll go through in a bit and resize and post the entries you made today to see how they look.
