BERLIN (Reuters) - A German man failed his driving test after attempting the examination while three times over the legal alcohol limit, police said Tuesday.
When the man arrived for the test Tuesday morning, both his driving instructor and the examiner detected the smell of alcohol on him, though the 27-year-old assured them he had not been drinking, police in the western town of Bendorf said.
"But his driving was rather bad, so the examiner directed him to toward the police station without him noticing," the spokesman said. "Once there, he had to get out and take an alcohol test, which revealed he was well over the limit."
The man will now have to wait "a long time" before he can take another driving test, the spokesman said.
How to fail a driving test!
I walked over to the little shop near us late this afternoon just as two construction workers were pulling up on a motorbike, apparently at the end of their shift. I was about 2 meters away and you could smell the Thai whisky coming out of them from that distance and more.
They each pulled two empty Red Bull vitamin drink bottles (about 2-3oz) from their pockets and asked the clerk to fill them up with rot gut Thai whisky.
Apparently a common practice to allow them to continue drinking during the drive home and perhaps fooling the MIB that it is indeed a vitamin drink?!

What scares me is being in up in Issan during the rice harvest and watching the local guys drinking home-made Lao-Khao whisky all day while they operate those horrendous threshing machines. I wonder how many accidents happen every year from that.
As to construction workers, I have a feeling that some of them have been topping up those Redbull bottles all day, hence the quality of some of the brick laying you see around Thailand.
