My daughter sorted it for an older Thai neighbour earlier today. She had been registered, but didn't have a queue number. My daughter went on to the system, and had a number >20,000 allocated for her, which means younger Thais are ahead of her in the queue, or does it?

My daughter tried to do the same for my number, and the system would not accept it. Hence my earlier question.
Why would it mean younger Thais ahead in the queue? There may be some because the two rounds of registration for AZ were for those 60 and over AND those with 7 defined chronic conditions. Do you think there would be fewer than 20,000 of them in HH district? I would say that a queue number on the 20k range would indicate a fair few still not registered.

Did your daughter say why you weren't accepted? Maybe because you're already in the queue? Maybe ask your daughter to find out why.

Maybe the neighbor wasn't supposed to have a queue number yet. The same as your good self.

To repeat myself. HHH hasn't even been able to do the first 5000 yet because it has no vaccine.

Most Thai's over 18 are getting sinovac, over 60's (al least) will get AZ. So if only sinovac is available, it makes sense to get on and vaccinate those that they can and worry about others when they receive more of the AZ vaccine.

That is the case here, but I know for a fact Bangkok is giving AZ to youngsters. My granddaughter was vaccinated 2 weeks ago.

Is this the nurse? It makes sense to give them AZ based on Malaysia's experience.

Edit to add that in The Mall at Bang Kapi (where my other half's head office is), the main drug administered has been sinovac.

Yes, this is the government panicking. The situation in Bangkok isn't great and they're letting people choose the vaccine where available. Young women are most at risk from blood clotting caused by AZ, but it's a personal decision as long as it's an informed one. But then if the choice is AZ, Sinovac or nothing is not much of a choice.

In today's covid stats for PKK there is one death. A 57 year old woman with diabetes. She should be in the vaccine queue. Maybe she was. Maybe she wasn't. She may have been one of those younger ones ahead in the queue. Maybe she was vaccinated, maybe not. Her timeline doesn't mention. She was definitely at risk, being connected to Dole.

I can assure you, no choice was given, and the group were student nurses. My granddaughter was quite ill for about 3 days, but one of her group had to be admitted to hospital. Thankfully, all are well now, and busy vaccinating the masses in Bangkok. Maybe they thought a single dose of AZ would give greater short term immunity.

Which probably explains why they got AZ.

The biggest problem the vaccine centres were having, not sure now, is that so many Thais didn't want Sinovac. At one stage at Bang Kapi, they started inoculating all backroom staff to ensure the vaccine wasn't wasted. The operation was run be medical professionals.

I think you're right about the short term immunity. Wasn't it reported somewhere that a single dose of Sinovac may be only 5% effective?

My daughters, 26 & 35, in Bangkok, got AZ. The eldest was sick for 7 days, the youngest for 3 days. They were required to have due to work.

... symptoms seem nasty - dizziness, sickness, hot and sweaty. The one who had both jabs had a very high temperature, but no other symptoms

I notice a few people on the forum know of folk who've had quite bad side effects from the vaccines in Thailand. Curious to know if anyone outside of Thailand have come across any cases. Personally, I know 30-40 people who've had both their jabs now (a requirement at my place of work) who suffered no ill effects aside from a sore arm, myself included. And all the people they know of haven't suffered any.

Just found it strange I've not heard of a single case of bad side effects out of many yet in Thailand it appears it may be quite common.

My daughter in the UK says the same. Just a sore arm on the first dose and nothing on the second dose. None of her friends have suffered any side effects. Neither have the family which includes her mother, well into her 60's, my mother, who is 96, both of my sisters in their 60's. Spoke with her just today and she says that she doesn't know anyone who've had any effects. She does say that she's read that a few have suffered some discomfort with headache and sickness that can last a couple of days.

Forum members here are a tiny group of people so why are we hearing these stories here? Are these AZ shots from Siam Bioscience or sent from Korea?

It is my belief that Thais tend to have a low pain threshold. That could be the reason. I did mention before that my wife complains after any vaccination.
