The power of the weed!

Post by Randy Cornhole »

I started smoking at 13 years old. A spell in the Royal Navy diddnt help. I am now 45 and have given up for 2 years and for 13 years. Ergo for the 32 years I have smoked, I have only smoked for 17 years, If this has yet to have a lasting effect has to be seen, but I can still cycle to Sam roi yod and back (100kms) in 4 hours. so all seems well?
I recently was asked which of 3 things (smoking, food and alcohol) would I require most, I answered - 1. to be able to smoke. 2. To be able to consume alchol. 3. food. Its sad I suppose that the need to eat food comes last and is the least important to me... But thats my choice. What is yours...?

Gave up smoking 11 years ago. It was something like three packs on a night out. Don´t want to go back there. Still enjoying my beers and occasional culinary delights. So the order would be 1. Beer, 2. Food 3 no way

Same order as Randy:
1. to be able to smoke. 2. To be able to consume alchol. 3. food.

BUT with a twist;

Started smoking 15 years of age, now 37 and still smoking 4 packs a day. Not sure if I can make the 100 kms bike ride, but still slimy and healthy (at least I look so). Still can't do without smoking for more than 6 hours, yes (if you wonder) I can't have a non-smoking direct flight to Europe.

Also, I have to admit after moving to Phuket from Hua Hin (6 years in Hua Hin), I feel more relaxed, which made me cut-down 1 more pack of smoking and less drinking. Since there are so many wine bars/shops in Phuket, I found the white wine spritzers more enjoyable than the beer, so that's also a huge cut-down on alcohol consumption as well.

For some reason, since started living in Phuket I managed to put on an extra 14 kilos, so now I am 60 kilos, had to change the entire wardrobe, new trouser/shorts size 31" as opposed to 28" in Hua Hin.

When you read this in the written order, which has worked the other way round or it sounds opposite to the initial preference order, I still like smoking, alcohol and food as in that order.

It's just me :P
Say mai penrai live longer!

Randy, I spent ten years in the navy but I wasn't a smoker so I never tried "blue liners",I was led to believe that they were the butt end of the smoking experience, so any comments?

Food first, booze second, and smoking is number three - only because I quit seven days ago. I want my lungs nice and pink for when I arrive in Hua Hin in July.....I expect to go from zero to three packs a day in record breaking time.

Food first, alcohol second. I don't smoke. Much as I love beer & wine (& B52s ), I can go days or weeks without drinking alcohol. I've very rarely gone even a day without food. Ergo, food is the most important...

Yep, would also say food first, closely followed by alcohol as only drink on weekends now and no smokes as I quit those last year.

When I was a gambler I would often forgo a meal because I couldn't afford it. I preferred to have a bet on a stupid horse!!!!
I am so happy that I stopped on 13/10/88.

Now it is definately
1 Food
2 Alcohol

Three years without a smoke and loving it.

Without that foul taste in your mouth you definately enjoy food a and drink more.

1- food 2- alcohol 3-smokes
food is a neccesity, alcohol is an enjoyable social option, & smoking is an addictive habit i've spent most of my life trying to quit.

It seems food may come through the winner, but then most of the people who voted for it are non or ex smokers, so no surprise there then.
The point I was trying to get across was that if you are addicted to 'The power of the weed' then it can and often does become more important than food.
If I had say only 100 bht in my pocket, I would have to buy a packet of fags over food.......

I'd do food/alcohol/smokes.
As others have said, you can't do without food and the more of it that I eat and experience different flavours, the better.
Alcohol's a bit of a problem as are the ciggies.
I suppose that's my bete noir - and has been for years.

I am turning into a really crotchety ex smoker in my middle age. I dont mean to be and as one who used to puff, I'm there with everyone who wakes up and has a fag before breccy. But the pong of fag smoke and smoke filled bars really gets to me these days. I know it shouldnt, but I'm finding the stink of stale baccy more and more offensive. At least all that comes to end over here in Blightly in about 7 weeks time.

I have an allergy to alcohol as well (honest), but can't do without so I have to put up with it. But I guess I'll live longer without booze than food, so scoff has to be first.

All the pubs in my area are getting worried as come July 1st it will be illegal to smoke inside. My local is constructing an outside area for smokers to have a smoke, but they have calculated that 85% of their drinkers are smokers and fear the worst. I personally wont go in as if I cant enjoy a fag and a pint what is the point. I will never relax and am annoyed at having to go outside every 15 mins.
I think a pub should have the choice as to wether they are a smoking or a non smoking pub.
Both the landlords at my local are non smokers but want a smoking pub as it is their business. They had the choice to go into the pub game or not and choose to go in willingly knowing all the risks.
It's just another reason to vacate the septic isle... :(

Randy

Sit outside, light a fag and chuck the butt through the window. If that doesn't work, follow the butt with a can of gasoline

UK now is now not only septic but close to gangrene!!!!! :guns: :guns:
