Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
The wife got a email that she is scheduled to be jabbed with sinopharm, not sinovac on the 29th. Reading up on the two it seems either one isn't much different from the other.

Re: Hua Hin Hospital vaccination queue moved yesterday evening! What vaccine though?
If you register with Med Park hospital you can choose between Pfizer or AZ vaccine, free, easy to get an appointment, easy access, well organised and free car park404cameljockey wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:56 amWe do, and I choose to wait, maybe months! I am always looking for private alternatives when fresh supplies are on order. Wife and I hardly go outdoors anyway. She was dead against SV, I'm dubious, but anyway won't vaccinate without her, maybe silly but there you go.hhinner wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:44 pm Although it may not be (m)any bodies first choice, if you take the Sinovac vaccine, you at least get the AZ jab 3-4 weeks later - if you wait for AZ or Pfizer then it could be months, unless you’re able to register at one of the Bangkok providers that may give it sooner? At least we have a choice!!

I'm in agreement with 404, waiting and hoping that private hospitals more locally will be offering better choices later this year (more likely early next) for those that don't want a 14 hour round trip to Bangkok (or a night there) and then the quarantine on return.joelle wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:08 amIf you register with Med Park hospital you can choose between Pfizer or AZ vaccine, free, easy to get an appointment, easy access, well organised and free car park404cameljockey wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:56 am We do, and I choose to wait, maybe months! Govt defends its purchase, use of Sinovac to fight Delta strain
The government has defended the use of the Sinovac vaccine and its plan to purchase 12 million more doses to combat the Delta variant of Covid-19 after the most recent study of those who received two doses of Sinovac showed satisfying results.
The Public Health Ministry on Tuesday held a press briefing to provide an update on the continued use of Sinovac and its efficacy after the public questioned why an additional 12 million doses of the vaccine were included in its August-September Covid-19 vaccine procurement plan. The public called for the government to instead procure mRNA vaccines which many believe are better than Sinovac.

As one of the comments in the BKK Post said: "Sinovac only works in Thailand whereas it's failing in the rest of the world. Why is that?"
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
I see they are starting on the Doctor Prachuap Ready queue numbers today at Hua Hin Hospital, with the intention of hitting the first 5,556 doses today. The really are accelerating local vaccines.

Sorry, didn't see this earlier (I don't actually visit the site every day and usually only look at the most recent page when I do) but yes, I'm getting the same message.

I'll bring a spare set of boxing gloves for you as well on Monday
Seriously, I'm convinced its just the IT or a U.S.E.R. problem. I've concluded that Thais love paper, so as long as we have the paper, we will get done.
As we aren't on the system, do you have any idea what time we should attend please?

My message has changed - "You had got the vaccine success!!".
So who are these 5,556 people? Are they getting second jabs and if so do they use the same queue number as for the first dose?

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Sorry, but no I don't. When it was still the message inviting me for a first dose that I knew I didn't need, I wasn't so bothered. However the new message is more worrying - if the people scheduling the appointments (HHH) don't think I had the first dose, why would they still schedule me for a second?Big Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 11:10 am I'll bring a spare set of boxing gloves for you as well on Monday

I do have the paper saying I'm due for a second dose next week so that's a crumb of comfort, but I'm still not sure what's going to happen if I show up and they say I'm not on the computer any more.

OK. so I just got my daughter-in-law to call HHH (she's generally better with officialdom than my wife) and they told her I should ignore what the website says and go along according to the paper, regardless.

If you look at the WHO site it gives all the details on all vaccines approved to date by WHO.thecolonel wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 10:42 pmHappy to hear great reports from HHH!HHTel wrote:You're quite right DB. Hopefully that will change. Thailand's AZ vaccine has after all passed all the quality tests in Europe and the US. Pfizer is not made locally so as it's only manufactured in the US, I would guess that it's approved in the UK.
But what's the *latest* Intel on efficacy of Sino+Az
Saw some stuff a while back.
But on basis that many forum members have taken this option perhaps they researched very recently??

Sinovac.
"A large phase 3 trial in Brazil showed that two doses, administered at an interval of 14 days, had an efficacy of 51% against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection, 100% against severe COVID-19, and 100% against hospitalization starting 14 days after receiving the second dose."
There is no data on mixed vaccines.

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Thanks, SP. As I've posted earlier, the last statement from the WHO regarding mixed vaccines is:
On Aug. 10, the WHO also cautioned against the quick adoption of mixing vaccines in an interim statement. “While these studies are encouraging, they require cautious interpretation given the limited sample sizes and lack of follow up, especially related to safety data, and the uncertain relevance of immunological readouts in relation to clinical impact,”
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
I received appts from BCCT for myself, wife and daughter for Tuesday 24th to receive a first dose of AZ.
As I only mentioned my wife and daughter this week, that's a very quick response.

Re: Hua Hin Hospital vaccination queue moved yesterday evening! What vaccine though?
Thanks kindly for the info, I do miss a lot of stuff. Today I've been advised that I have two Moderna jabs reserved for me and same for my wife at a BKK hospital, when they arrive. I do want to avoid the travel, not really because of the self-isolation on return, but we have just taken a 12 year old (we think 12) soi dog into our care and he does demand a lot of love and attention, we're just forming a bond with him now. Maybe later this year we'll be happier to leave him with people, so I'll place all BKK options on the table!joelle wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:08 amIf you register with Med Park hospital you can choose between Pfizer or AZ vaccine, free, easy to get an appointment, easy access, well organised and free car park404cameljockey wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:56 amWe do, and I choose to wait, maybe months!
