I originally had flights booked from BKK to LHR earlier this year - BA gave me a voucher to use in the future. Although BA are not flying in/out of BKK, if you try to book a flight with them, they offer you another carrier. Just as a test I tried yesterday and up came flights with Qatar Airways at more than double the original BA price. I’m now investigating trying to get a refund and will book directly with another airline for travel next year (hopefully).

From the press release, BA to BKK are not cancelled, just suspended from the end of March.

The carrier plans to suspend flights to Bangkok and Sydney from the end of March until 30 October,

I assume from that that flights outside of those months, BA will have normal scheduled flights.

Well I was hoping to be able to fly with BA from BKK to LHR at about the end of April but that won’t be possible now and so the voucher I have will become useless so I’m hoping I can get a refund. I suspect this will be easier said than done!!

Mine isn’t cancelled as such - I have a voucher from May this year when it was not possible to fly, although technically BA were still flying, so it was our decision to cancel our flight and BA gave us a voucher - hopefully I’m being over pessimistic!!

If BA are making such decisions now, any further decision to extend the suspension will be made sooner rather than later. If flights do resime in November, you can be bet it won't be a daily service.

Please keep us updated Dannie Boy as I am sure others including myself are interested. I fly on 16th and have already submitted COE info to Singapore to see what happens. I am expecting a response next week and would feel more comfortable if I have a COE which will be accepted than risk a new app. As a non vaccinated traveller I have to go the AQ route and being a seafarer have to deal with Singapore's inflexible conditions limiting my stay there should things go wrong. Last thing I want is to have to fly to UK and start all over again.

I am expecting a response next week and would feel more comfortable if I have a COE which will be accepted than risk a new app. As a non vaccinated traveller I have to go the AQ route and being a seafarer have to deal with Singapore's inflexible conditions limiting my stay there should things go wrong. Last thing I want is to have to fly to UK and start all over again.

I might look at the COE route tomorrow and see where it takes me, but I’m loath to press the button and end up having to quarantine somewhere - I can handle I night in HH or CA, so have got everything crossed that things become clearer as the week progresses!!

▪For vaccinated people arriving from the 46 countries on the list, you must book a SHA+ hotel for the first night within a two hour drive from the international airport. For example, if you land at Suvarnbhumi, you can go straight to Pattaya, but for Hua Hin or Cha Am, you must stay in Bangkok first for one night.

▪Thailand Pass will be replacing COE when it goes online on 1st November. You can still use COE in the meantime as it will be honoured after that date. Your hotel will also refund you if you only stay one night. Please contact them direct.

Joelle, thanks very much for the information - obviously I would have preferred to stay local but I guess one night in Bangkok won’t be too onerous - I’ll start looking into this tomorrow
