Thailand's Vaccine Tracker (Nov. 10, 2021)

"About 52.52% of the population is fully vaccinated. 44,355,673 (+239,164) people have received the first dose, while 34,760,830 (+520,475) have been fully inoculated.
.
At this rate, Thailand needs to administer 320,489 doses per day within 52 days to reach the herd immunity target by the year's end."

Pete,

I think calling it herd immunity is a misnomer. The vaccine does not stop you getting covid, or stop you passing it on to others. What the vaccine does is greatly reduce the chance of having a serious illness - I.e. being hospitalised.

It may reduce the severity of the covid you pass on to others and it may make it harder to catch, but I don't think that that is proven yet.

You just have to look at Europe, where vaccine rates are high but Germany, for example, is now up to 40,000 a day. Other European countries are heading in the same direction.

Covid, like flu, is something.we will have to learn to live with, and like flu should not lead to the closure of schools etc.

Singapore have stopped free treatment for covid patients who have not had the vaccine. To prevent health systems worldwide breaking down, I can see that being introduced elsewhere.

Yes, agreed. I'm not calling it anything, it's Khaosod English commenting as part of their graph. I'll go back and put "s around it.

The term is used all around the globe for Covid. However, I'd agree that regarding Covid, it's not strictly true.

Interesting conversation in HH hospital. I had my first AZ in Bangkok and wanted to transfer the second jab to HH next week.

I had gone to floor 8.9.10 in the car park and it is all stripped out. No people. Nothing. I asked at reception in the main building and was told that unless you had already registered with HH hospital for the vaccine that no more doses were available until next year.

So.any workers from elsewhere in Thailand who come here without a jab are not going to get one here. That also applies to HH residents who haven't had a jab yet. I was surprised. Would have thought that having a small supply for Thais coming here or locals who haven't had one yet would have been a priority. Or maybe the authorities really believe that 102% of the locals have had one jab.

The opportunity for herd "immunity" has passed. The Delta variant saw to that along with the so called "reluctance" to get a jab or two. I would call it foolishness but what do I know? Some countries, and I think Thailand would be one of them, never had a chance to get to the herd level. The vaccines have now become a therapeutic.

Are they still pushing Sinococktails or is anything else available? The mrs still hasn't had her first.

I thought I saw something saying they'd 'moved' the HHH vaccinations to Market Village 3rd floor now.

I was on the 3rd. fl. of MV yesterday and there were no vaccinations going on there. in fact, there were very few people in MV.
