Re: The Rugby Thread
Well, I was planning to avoid this thread until I'd watched the Wales game, but on reflection... I watched the cricket yesterday afternoon, then England-Tonga 'as live', so there's a lot to catch up with. I've just started watching Sarries-Irish.
Anyway, there's nothing much to add to your post really. I'll probably just skim the other internationals over the next few days, but while it was entertaining to watch England run in a few tries, and interesting to see some new and newish faces, it was always unlikely we'd learn anything from the Tonga game. Good to see Tuilangi fit, and Steward looks decent at full-back. The only other thing that occurred to me was why was Curry playing at no. 8 while Simmonds was not even in the squad? Hopefully next wekend against Australia...

Thanks pharvey, you're always so considerate...pharvey wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 6:34 am Leicester vs Bath this evening was well worth a watch despite being a top of the table vs bottom of the table clash (unbeaten vs winless). I won't go into detail as I know DM tends to watch recordings on the Premiership Site, so may not have seen the match as of yet.

Just watched it. Good game indeed. I can't quite say Bath were unlucky, but certainly much improved. Just not quite enough... By the way, I didn't realise Cipriani was 34.

No need to extract the urine... Now,now....

No, Leicester deserved the win, but good to see an improvement in Bath's play.Still far too many silly mistakes and needless penalties though.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 2:03 am Just watched it. I was actually referring to Priestland being 34, but Cipriani is also 34 funnily enough.....

I wasn't referring to you referring to Priestland's age, I was referring to the commentator referring to Cipriani's age.
Unfortunately there was no reference to the referee's age...

Exeter-Newcastle
A tight finish, but pretty turgid stuff otherwise. Worth a watch from about the 75th minute.

I honestly don't understand Curry at no. 8 - there are so many really good English specialists. Jones seems to have a thing for playing players out of position. Anyway, at least Simmonds is on the bench.

We'll see on that one - Curry is a great backrow player, but nowhere near the Number 8 that Simmonds is IMHO.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 11:34 pm I honestly don't understand Curry at no. 8 - there are so many really good English specialists. Dullard (aka Tuilagi) named on the wing - my hopes are he will get twatted.
It'll also be interesting to see Wales' backrow - small in stature quite frankly, but bloody skilful!! The backline also look good!

Just watched the highlights of Gloucester-Bath. Are you okay, Pietro? Please confirm. I believe they're setting up a helpline for Bath supporters...

Re: The Rugby Thread
Well, with the team(s) selected, it was a fairly pointless match from the start. Bath selected what they are calling a "development" side, but what development is achieved when a far more experienced and talented team put 70+ points on you??!!dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 5:07 pm Just watched the highlights of Gloucester-Bath. Regardless of the team selected, this will be recorded as yet another embarrassing and very heavy defeat - made all the worse with Gloucester being one of Bath's fiercest rivals.
Changes have to be made - Hooper and co. can BS all they want professing that this season is all about team development as there is no relegation. BUT, the simple and sad fact is that Bath have lost an incredible 13 out of their last 14 matches!!

Certainly enjoyed Scotland vs SA earlier today - all over the place at times, but well worth the watch.
Ireland vs NZ @ Half-time.... Wow, just wow!! Let's have more of the same in the 2nd Half!!

Re: The Rugby Thread
Well bugger moi, what a game!!
James Lowe for Ireland (despite being a New Zealander
) a man mountain!! That said, everyone played out of their skins - have to be honest, NZ had no answer.... And that is truly something you don't see.
This was far from a weak NZ side - has there ever been one? But Ireland were superb. Well deserved win and hats off to them
I shall now cr@p myself in private with the thought of Wales taking on this team in the forthcoming Six Nations....
