What the heck is the matter with you all?

There is not one single person on this board who can say they know for a fact that they are right.
You may THINK you're right, but so what?

If people buy or not, isn't that up to each individual person to do so?
Why is it so important to claim that you know everything and that others don't?

What a stupid discussion this thread has turned out to be.

If people want to buy, then buy.
If people don't want to buy, then don't.

It's obvious to me that canada1 think he knows everything about the property market in Thailand and don't want to make any investment here.
So what?
I bought my house some time ago, I live here, AND I have NOT invested more money than I can afford to loose.
What the heck is the problem with that?

I don't care if some of you still say, oh, do not invest here.
For me and my money; it's a bloody GOOD investment.
I have a beautiful house and wife, exceptionally nice, international and friendly neighbours, why was it stupid to buy?

Because I might loose it all?
So what?
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Great post Norseman, Captain Sensible as usual !!

Yes, he did say that he invests nothing in Thailand, only thing is Norseman, Mr Canada1 has been lying to us because a while back he wrote:
all the residents on our estate have as advised registered companies in order to buy their properties
Are all our investments safe or not and please dont tell us about the lease option, I bought to own and not lease for 30 years.
He's just a wind-up merchant/troll, nothing more.

Norseman a good post the operative part being

Quote
I bought my house some time ago, I live here, AND I have NOT invested more money than I can afford to loose.

And that is the advice which nearly all the naysayers give however leaving the lily guilders free reign and a lot of people would be investing their last rupee here on partial facts and lots of vested interest opinion

My stance on this is simple in their offices shops or wherever the estate agents and developers can say what they like however IMHO this website is a public forum and people do come on this site to get /gain CORRECT information all of it in TOTAL and as long as a poster puts it all every bit of it none left out i will not argue as to that persons OPINION on either side opinion is just that its when opinion is slanted to be fact that there is a problem and facts are left out ie Land Act section 4

I do agree with your comments norseman, you clearly bought knowing all the facts and risks involved and should you have problems you of course in the position to put the house in your wifes name.

I know that i could do much the same but have chosen not to.

It would seem that some people think that if you decide not to buy then you of course must be a loser in some way, of course this is plain nonsense put around by people who can no longer sell their houses.

I am confused by this statement,

I have a beautiful house and wife, exceptionally nice, international and friendly neighbours, why was it stupid to buy?

Dont we all, unless the wife came with the house which of course she would not have then where is the relevance.

No one gives a fig as to who buys and who does not, just as long as people are given the real facts first. I have to admit that I have also heard that JW does give honest advice on house purchase from many other people in town so I guess there are some good guys around.

Hey Burgher.

Keep guessing pal, Next time i see you at the Karioke I will introduce myself to you and you can tell me all about your problems.

I hope that you are not thinking about starting a stud service young lady, as there are very strict rules under the FBA about things like that!

If you want to work 16 hours a day eight days a week for the forseeable future than entertain the idea off real estate brokerage.

The market is saturated with agencies last year for every new one that oppened one closed in HH.

Then off course I pressume you have an honest Thai partner or you are fluent in Thai reading writing and speaking. As you will need these assets.

Also not so easy to get a work permit anymore.

Unless you have substantial funding and a background in the buissiness save your money and find something more viable.

And yes I am a broker. I also spent four years learning about Thailand (living here) before I entertained the idea. And yes I did work in trhe buissiness pretty much all my life.
