Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
I used Scoot last week to fly BKK to Gatwick.
I managed to get scootplus for 9600 baht one way.
Flying into Gatwick is important to me as it saves my step father a long drive to pick me from lhr.
30kg hold luggage, 15kg walk on, one meal and one drink and priority board and exit,
All included for 9600
Large seat with foot rest that came out, and reclines.
Loads of space, no entertainment but power sockets for own devices provided.
I would describe it as same comfort as premium economy seating on major airlines but food was shite.
For the price, if you can get a scootplus ticket for same or less than economy on other airlines I would do it every time.

Samui - Phnom Penh direct flights
https://www.bangkokpost.com/travel/2313 ... ct-flights
SURAT THANI: Direct flights linking Koh Samui with Phnom Penh have raised hopes of more visits by beach lovers and culture enthusiasts to the resort island in this southern province.
Provincial governor Wichawut Jinto said on Friday that direct flights operated by Cambodia Airways between Samui and the Cambodian capital would provide a new choice for tourists keen on beaches on Samui and its neighbouring islands, as well as the keen to explore Cambodian culture in Phnom Penh.
He was speaking after the landing of the debut flight of Cambodia Airways from Phnom Penh with 53 passengers on board.
Cambodia Airways operates two weekly flights, on Tuesday and Friday, between the two stops. It is the first direct link between the two destinations.
Before Cambodia Airways opened the route, air travellers between Samui and Phnom Penh had to change flights in Bangkok.

Probably only those people who want to fly direct between the two locations to avoid a journey via Bangkok - for some people they are willing to pay more for convenience
Air Canada launches first direct North America – Thailand flight in 10 years
https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/transpo ... n-10-years
Air Canada is launching the only available direct service between North America and Thailand by the end of this year. Between December and April, Air Canada’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will fly direct between Vancouver and Bangkok four days per week. It is the first nonstop service between North America and Thailand in 10 years.
It will also provide a new option for American passengers. Before they would have to transit through Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo or, in the other direction, the middle eastern hubs.
Canada’s flag carrier will fly between Vancouver International Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight route is seasonal and will run between December 4, 2023 and April 14, 2023. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner features 3 cabins – Signature Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class.
The westbound flight leaves Vancouver at 11pm and arrives in Bangkok at 5:55am. The eastbound flight will leave Bangkok and 8:30am and arrive in Vancouver at 6:35am, technically going back in time. Both flights are designed to arrive early in the morning to give passengers the maximum choice of same-day connecting flights.
The new route is expected to be a welcome addition for travellers since current services between North America and Thailand require a stop in East Asia, usually at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport or at either of Tokyo’s 2 international airports.
The service is the first nonstop service between North America and Thailand since Thai Airways discontinued its direct service between Los Angeles International Airport and Bangkok in 2012. Thai Airways also ran a direct service between New York City’s John F. Kennedy Airport and Bangkok between 2005 and 2008.
The airline will also launch daily flights from Toronto to Mumbai via London Heathrow Airport, between October 29, 2022 and March 26, 2023. The Toronto – Mumbai route will also be operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 3 available cabin services. The airline will also increase number of services to various locations in India, Australia, New Zealand and Peru this winter.
Tickets are already available to buy on Air Canada’s website, via the Air Canada mobile application and through travel agents.

Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
On some of the other threads there is mention of Thailand completely opening up to tourists from 1st July. I’m in the UK at the moment and there’s a possibility that my wife may have to travel back to Thailand early so I’ve been looking at options. I was initially looking to keep her original return date as it is and buy a “cheap” return ticket Ldn-BKK-Ldn to cover the period she needs to return to Thailand. Well it seems that there are either no flights at all or the ones that are available are at a ridiculous price - Scoot have no flights in the next few weeks from LGW to BKK and Thai airways want nearly £1800 and I tried Etihad (who our current flights are with) and their online price came out at an unbelievable £3500 and that’s economy not Business!! She might have to go back using her current ticket and not return if nothing cheaper becomes available

The fares are based, partially, on the cost of fuel.

Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
If the fares I found are typical, there won’t be a stampede of people prepared to pay silly prices to holiday in Thailand where they’ll find it’s nothing like it was the last time they visited!!
Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
Prices are pretty obscene going the other way also. Its a triple whammy of peak travel season, fewer routes, less staff, and hikes due to fuel prices.
There are just a handful of Scoot flights in July from BKK > LGW starting at 22,000 baht one way.

I sent your above post to my daughter in the UK so she was aware. But she's literally just booked her flight here in October and sent this:Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 4:57 pm On some of the other threads there is mention of Thailand completely opening up to tourists from 1st July. Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
We’ll if you look for flights now with Eva (July) they are mainly unavailable or even when they do have flights, they’re quite a bit more expensive. The days of cheap flights don’t look like returning anytime soon!!HHTel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 2:02 pmI sent your above post to my daughter in the UK so she was aware. Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
DB, KLM and Air France aren't cheap, but cheaper than you have quoted above - return fares for about 42K on Jul 1st.

DB, my daughter has booked her flight in October in the last 2 days. Maybe they're expecting more bums on seats and a drop in fuel charges by then!

Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
I was looking for a direct flight if possible as my wife would be traveling on her own and she doesn’t want to have to change flights at an airport she’s not familiar with, which means Abu Dhabi only and Etihad are quoting ridiculous prices for July. Anyway we’re waiting to see if she has to travel before deciding what to do next.
Re: Scoot Launches Gatwick to Bangkok at £170
Safety standards shouldn’t be an issue as Singapore, either the government or airline isn’t going to want any association with an airline with even the threat of being banned from Europe
