Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
Well, I've just watched it (episode 1). It's 50-odd years since I read the book and not an awful lot less than that since I saw the film, so my memory of both is a tad hazy to say the least. Taking it purely on its own merits, ep 1 is more than enough to keep me interested.

You might like Outer Range.dtaai-maai wrote:Well, I've just watched it (episode 1). On eztv.Outer Range is an American science fiction neo-Western mystery thriller streaming television series created by Brian Watkins and starring Josh Brolin. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 15, 2022.Wikipedia
For some reason brought to mind Bernard Cribbens.

I'll definitely be trying this out, though I'm not sure that's the best recommendation it could have!

Well, I'm into ep 3 and the SF aspect has been very much in the background, but I'm intrigued enough to keep going.

I generally avoid anything sci-fi ish but mainly the cast of TMWFTE, Eddie Marsan, Jimmi Simpson, Bill Nighy etc, got me intrigued. After 1 episode I will definitely keep going.

Altered Carbon
I've had this on my Netflix watchlist for ages, but only just got around to watching it. Ep01 s01 very encouraging.

More than 300 years in the future, society has been transformed by new technology, leading to human bodies being interchangeable and death no longer being permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the only surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned for centuries until impossibly wealthy businessman Laurens Bancroft offers him the chance to live again. Kovacs will have to do something for Bancroft, though, if he wants to be resurrected. Bancroft's request of Kovacs is to solve a murder -- Bancroft's. "Altered Carbon" is based on Richard K. Morgan's cyberpunk noir novel of the same name.

What did you think of Severance?buksida wrote:Looks good to me, its here for those that don't have access to iPlayer: https://eztv.re/search/speedshopdtaai-maai wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 11:20 pm I'll put this here as it's not a documentary: The Speedshop
I'm only halfway through episode 1, but I'll stick my neck out and give this a tentative thumbs up.![]()
Also giving Severance a go.
I've just completed it. Early on i thought it wasn't for me, but I persisted and in the end I found the storyline to be good. And in terms of the overall production I'd say it was very good.
A strange storyline but well put together and worthy of a watch IMO. 8/10
In a way it might appeal to some of the SF anoraks on here..

Haven't started it yet, have a bit of a backlog with Picard, Halo, and Ozark to finish, and Tokyo Vice, Outer Range, and TMWFTE to try in addition to Severance.thecolonel wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 12:45 am What did you think of Severance?

I watched this when it came out and, for some reason, started finding it a bit tedious after a few episodes. Watched it through to the end of the series just out of curiosity. Didn't bother with series 2. I'll be interested in your comments about series 2, if you bother.dtaai-maai wrote:Altered Carbon
