Thailand Pass, Covid insurance to end July 1
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... end-july-1
Thailand Pass registration and compulsory Covid-19 insurance will be lifted for all people arriving in Thailand from July 1, a senior government spokesman said on Friday.
Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said these decisions were made at a meeting of the CCSA on Friday.
Arrivals will need only show their vaccination certificates or Covid-19 test results.
Without such proof, arrivals will be given random, professional antigen tests at permanent border entry points. Random testing would continue until the government lifts all state-of-emergency measures to deal with Covid-19.
The Thailand Pass registration system will remain in place, but be used only for travellers to report suspected symptoms of dangerous and other communicable diseases, as determined by the Public Health Ministry, Dr Taweesilp said.
Foreign nationals will not have to be insured for Covid-19, and thermal scanning will end at border checkpoints, he said.
A certification of fitness for entry, issued by a Thai consulate, will also no longer be required.
At present, vsitors are required to have US$10,000 Covid-19 insurance coverage. From July 1, the government will still encourage visitors to have such insurance, the spokesman said.

Re: Covid-19 News (Thailand and Southeast Asia only)
It appears from reading the printed portion at the link above that they are going to beat the mask issue to death, even though other Gov agencies are saying there was never a law or penalty for not wearing them, anywhere?!
They still use the words "must" and "required" which is wrong.
I will continue to wear one in crowded indoor environments. I think we'll see them slowly disappearing over the next few months even inside Malls, especially with the younger generation.

I'm pretty sure that after the announcement(s) today, 0200 closing and all the other bits about zones etc., is already here, starting tonight. I can't see the MIB having the will to stop anything, and I can see almost bankrupt establishments already sprinting out of the starting blocks as we speak.

Some stories will be repetitive as the News people seem to be going crazy at the moment with new releases that may not be completely new.

Re: Covid-19 News (Thailand and Southeast Asia only)
I'm starting to see/feel undertones from how articles are bring written today that we should all be thankful for this great gift of freedom that the Gov here is bestowing upon people. Dictatorial and self aggrandising to the core, which may be partly or fully due to the journalist who wrote the story?....Nah
. Elections come next.

All that I can say to that is, 'Are Hua Hin's bars going to have to close early?' They've been opening way past that time for months.PeteC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 4:57 pm I'm pretty sure that after the announcement(s) today, 0200 closing and all the other bits about zones etc., is already here, starting tonight. BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand is lifting a pre-arrival registration requirement for foreign visitors that was seen as onerous and a drag on the recovery for its ailing tourism industry.
The government’s COVID-19 center also said Friday that an outdoor mask mandate would be dropped as of July 1 except in crowded venues. The mask mandate was not controversial in Thailand and generally obeyed.
Thailand began gradually easing entry requirements late last year. But through April, it still required even fully vaccinated travelers to undergo RT-PCR tests upon arrival and stay in a government-approved hotel for one night until the results were known.
Registering for the “Thailand Pass” required online copies of vaccination documents, insurance policies and other documents to be submitted, after which visitors would receive a QR code for use during travel. The requirement had already been dropped for Thais and will be dropped for foreign visitors on July 1.
The registration process — beset at times by delays and glitches — was seen as discouraging tourists to Thailand, where the lucrative tourism sector was battered by the coronavirus pandemic.
Arriving foreigners must still show proof they have been vaccinated or provide negative COVID-19 test results, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration announced. But a requirement to hold an insurance policy has been dropped.
