it may have been mentioned.

A real look at how life in the UK is still coming to terms with events that happens decades ago.

Northern mining riots and community murders. British dramas like this are always hard to watch but very very well done.

Reminds me a little bit of Shane Meadows’ style, in the sense of coming close to real life scenarios that most of us from those parts can relate to.
Yes mentioned a few posts above - I enjoyed the series very much and they’ve announced that a 2nd series has been commissioned, presumably for viewing next year!!
Re Sherwood..... I thought the overall production and most of the acting was of a very good standard indeed.

However I just felt the plot itself didn't really match those standards.

I'd watch the second series for sure though

It’s mainly in relation to what else is on offer and IMO, Sherwood was head and shoulders above most of what else was available at the time. Without searching for downloads or paying for subscription services, it’s a case of choosing between what’s available. I’d agree that there have been better programmes in the past, in fact due to the low availability of good programmes we’re watching the rerun of the entire Line Of Duty series at the moment on BBC iPlayer.

I've just completed Slow Horses which was put up here about 1 month ago by one of you fine gentlemen

A thriller series but with a twist, not everyone in MI5 is James Bond!

It did feel rather different.... quite a bit of dark comedy in there

Good acting all around

I'd give it an 8/10

I will give the second series a go too

Next up for me is Black Bird

Onwards

Ps I'm struggling with The Dropout, may ditch it.

The Slough House series of books by Mick Herron are excellent.

Just finished The Essex Serpent

Was keen to watch it as this was Clare Danes' first role after 10 years of Homeland(probably my all time no.1 favourite series, in which she and others excelled IMO)

Rather like Sherwood, i thought the production and acting were very good. But the storyline was not really for me. I guess it just follows the romantic novel upon which its based

So it only gets a 7/10 for me

Im enjoying Black Bird and will report on that soon

The Sandman - Netflix - fantasy based on the DC comic.

Some may enjoy it. Curmudgeons may not.

Black Bird

Just finished this 6 part USA serial killer drama.

I thought overall it was good and would recommend it.

Excellent acting from one of the main characters (the criminal) and the rest were solid.

Based on a true story and you see the photos of the real characters at the end(a little touch that I've always appreciated).

It reminded me of True Detective(S1) but not quite in the same league (as that was truly outstanding).

8.5/10 for me

So do I!

I binged this 7 episode spy thriller-drama in 24 hours. I don't normally consume them anything like that fast but I was really enjoying this one.

Some terrific acting. Just one or two moments which were a bit too 'Hollywood' for me but it didn't spoil it and still highly recommended.

Delighted to hear a second series is on the way

9/10

If you have a sick sense of humor "the boys" just released the third season. Plenty of gore, dark humor.

Just started this one, 5 episodes in. Right up my alley, this. That first scene with A-Train and Hughie's girlfriend grabbed my full attention straight away.

Mucho Recommendo.

Episode 1 here for anyone wanting to give it a whirl: (think I downloaded complete season 1 on Pirate Bay) https://eztv.re/ep/1734387/the-boys-s01 ... 264-skgtv/

I have just completed Season 1 of Tokyo Vice (8 episodes). A drama based on criminal Tokyo gangs as seen by an American reporter working for a big Japanese newspaper.

For me it got off to a slow start but then seemed to shift gears and the ensuing plot seemed clearer and very well presented.

And whilst not rip roaring action it's very solid indeed.

I'm looking forward to Season 2.

I'm so damn late to the party on this one (been mentioned a few times on the forum) but, with the hoohah going on recently due to its final episode, decided to whack on season one today. Finished the 10 episodes of season 1 today.

Better Call Saul

What a cracker. No idea why it took me so long to watch as I bloody loved Breaking Bad. I've now got another 53 episodes to keep me busy...

Yes, it's a slow burner but well worth it

In contrast to you I have precisely one episode left to watch of the whole series.

Enjoy...
