Robbie Williams?

Post by PeteC »

I've heard his music for a long time but yesterday was the first time I ever saw one of his VHS concert videos. It was 2003 in an English town, name I forget, but an odd sounding place. Open air venue and there had to be 30,000 + there. A few questions.

Many times throughout the concert he interjected some self pitying comments, such as: "Let's hear them say something bad about me now...." he said similar several times. What was this about? Was he arrested for something?

His lyrics are quite good IMHO and I wonder if he writes them himself?

Last, what is he doing now, still strong and performing or in retirement? It was a great video and concert, kept people in their seats at the bar for the entire thing and actually had people standing in the street watching. He's a good performer. Pete

He used to be in a boy band call Take That who have successfully reformed without him. Was the stadium at Milton Keynes? I don't think he writes anything? Last I heard he was in permanent rehab?

Knebworth?

He had some spectacular fallings out with the other members of Take That, particularly the singer/songwriter, Gary Barlow. He has also been criticised for partying way too hard (to put it nicely).

He's not my style, but I quite like the cheeky chappie image & I thought his songs were OK, if not good. I'm way out of touch with UK, now, so I'll bow to Caller's knowledge that he is not in vogue now. Funny, as Take That have just made a comeback & I thought he was far more talented than the rest of them put together. Just goes to prove, fame is a fickle mistress...

BTW, I just checked out his Escapology album (yes, I have it!). He has a credit on all of the songs, so he at least partially writes them

No, it wasn't a stadium but more of an open, large field with a huge stage set up. CRS for sure, I need to start writing things down. It was a one word town and I think it began with a "K", 9 or more letters. Pete

A songwriter called Guy Chambers wrote the majority of his songs but they fell out, so Robbie Williams wrote his latest Album himself.

The Album got slated in the English media.

The single Rudebox got a bit of airtime and is one of the worst songs ever recorded.

Ok then back to basics grab your shell toes and your fat laces
A little hand clap for some funk faces and make your body move in the following places
goes up your back and then down your spine and when it hits your head…

Ok then back to baseheads dance like you just won at the special Olympics I got the rudebox of the back of a spaceship, so sick I just had to take it
The R.U.D.E.B.O.X. up yer jacksy, split yer kecks sing a song of semtex, pocket full of durex body full of mandrex. Are we gonna have sex (yes) will you wear your knee socks (ohh) back to the rudebox

Not exactly Bob Dylan.

He's now living in America feeling sorry for himself because life is so hard for him.
