Challenge! Find place for my family to stay - Christmas

Post by katyb »

Hello,

I've been hovering around for a while now and picked up some really useful tips, so thanks.

But now I really need some help!

We will be in HH from Dec to March, in a rented house. My challenge is to find somewhere for my sister and her husband to stay, near us along with their 3 kids - 5 year old boy AND 2 teenage girls for 3 weeks at christmas this year.

They haven't been to Thailand before and although they are really keen and quite up for it, I am a little concerned that they might not like it - they normally go all inclusive in the Carribean - kids clubs, free drinks, 5 star restaurants, entertainment.... that kind of thing ('orrible,I know!).

So, I wondered if anyone knew of some kind of resort where you can rent a nice villa with 3 bedrooms, with sort of condo / hotel facillities, on / near the beach, must have communal pool (apparently this is essential for socialising when you are 14 to 16 years old). Would prefer Khao Takieb area if poss but not essential.

On a similar topic, do you think HH is a good place for teenagers? They really just want to go on the beach, which is fine, but they do also want some other kids to mix with. We tend to be in Thailand during school terms so haven't actually got experience of whether they can expect to see other kids on holiday. Is HH a popular place for families at Christmas? Or should I pack them off to Samui after a few days?

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks.

Used to have a couple of teenage female farang friends visiting and they liked to hang out at the Hilton pool. You are meant to pay a cover charge to go there but you used to be able to blag it quite easily

Thanks for these. I'll look in to both a little more now.
