The Scuderia however seem insistent that Perez infringed twice so should have been handed 2 penalties - a 10 second penalty would have meant Leclerc would have taken victory.
I guess that the complaint comes from the hierarchy, not Leclerc. Both him and Perez appear to good sportsmen, unlike the Cloggy!

Yes, I'd agree with that - especially the latter!! :thumb:

Probably one of the most disgraceful events in top sport - how these obnoxious pissants and team became World Champions is beyond me. Despicable from F1 and the governing body - LH was and still is World Champion in 2021... 8 on my count and leading all!!
.

.
This season (2022) is also questionable due to their (Red BS) continual cheating - massively over budget..... What is wrong with these people?

I live in hope Ferrari or Mercedes will take them to the cleaners.....

Please oh please, let RED BS be embarrassed during this GP!!

If you had bet that Hamilton would go the entire season with no wins, you would be a very rich person coming up. I imagine someone in the UK or Las Vegas has done just that and are in line for a windfall! :D

Maybe Daniel Ricciardo can beat the Red Bull:

Daniel Ricciardo rides a horse into US Grand Prix as he waits for 2023 F1 seat

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-10-21/ ... /101560438

Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo may have found his next seat — or saddle, to be specific.

As the West Australian continues his search for a new team in the 2023 season, Ricciardo entered pit lane on the back of a horse, ahead of the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

"Greatest paddock entrance yet," McLaren tweeted, posting photos and a video clip of the Australian, clad in cowboy garb with a Stars and Stripes jacket.

Walking alongside Ricciardo was country singer Rob Baird, strumming a guitar and singing his 2012 song Dreams and Gasoline.

According to a lanyard around the horse's neck, its name was Horsey McHorseface.

There will be changes to Grid Positions however: -

"Charles Leclerc will serve a 10-place grid penalty for Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix in Austin following engine component changes.

It marks the third time Leclerc has had to take an engine penalty this season after he took one at Spa and Montreal.

Ferrari has switched Leclerc onto a sixth different internal combustion engine and turbocharger, three over the limit for 2022.

These carry a grid drop of five places each so in total Leclerc will currently drop 10 places.

Max Verstappen sealed the drivers’ championship last time out at Suzuka after blowing away Leclerc and Ferrari’s early-season challenge but Leclerc is still locked in a fight with Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez for second place in the points.

He sits just one point behind Perez in the championship while Red Bull can seal the constructors’ championship if Ferrari fails to outscore the team by 19 points. Perez also has a grid penalty (of five places) this weekend.

Alpine’s Fernando Alonso will take a five-place grid penalty for his sixth internal combustion engine of the season.

Leclerc, Perez, Alonso and Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu (five places) are the four drivers with grid penalties so far this weekend."

Good luck to all!

Cracking US GP! Just a pity that Red BS have either been handed or cheated their way to the title for 2 years. There's no way a car can improve to that degree over one season whilst sticking to the rules.... NO WAY

Superb drives today from Leclerc. Vettel, Hamilton and Perez - Russell however, quite frankly in the bad books with regards to Sainz IMHO.

Red BS, Homer and Crashappen will hopefully be penalised for their wrongdoings (as they should) and next season the Scuderia and The Silver Arrows will give a swift kick up the @rse to all......

Still though, a few races to go! :thumb:

There were a couple of questionable decisions - one in particular for me was the penalty handed to George Russell. Russell took out Pole sitter Sainz at the first corner ultimately ending his race - lost points for Ferarri and Sainz and possibly a win for the Scuderia rather than RB and Crashappen...... For this, Russell was handed a 5 second penalty. I'm a great fan of Russell and Mercedes, but this was wrong. Not sure what the penalty should have been TBH, but it should certainly have been more severe than 5 seconds!

Fernando Alonso: Alpine win bid to overturn two-time champion's US GP penalty

https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/63420895

Alpine have won their bid to overturn the penalty Fernando Alonso received in the United States Grand Prix.

The two-time world champion was demoted out of the points after he finished seventh in a damaged car.

US GP stewards upheld a protest by the Haas team despite it being posted after the permitted time limit had expired.

However, FIA stewards have reversed the decision, meaning Alonso and Alpine retain the six points the Spanish driver won from the race.

Officials agreed with Alpine's argument that the protest by Haas was not submitted within the correct timeframe............

The FIA, if not already, are quickly morphing themselves into a FIFA type organisation. Greed, corruption and mediocrity.

Good news in my book - especially when comparing to Russell's 5 second penalty. Don't like his character at times, but one hell of a driver.

Good God, they can't stop cheating even under a VSC - disgrace to the sport. Mercs lost it with tyre selection/tactics, but they'll be back. Ferarri didn't turn up - Alonso let down with the engine once again.

Red BS yet again not worthy.... Zero deserved.
