Hello from England

Post by Zidane »

Hi guys,
Let me introduce myself as a new member to your forum.
If everything goes to plan then myself and my Thai wife will be making a permanent move to Thailand in the next couple of months.
I've been to Thailand quite a lot, over the years, to places like Chiang-Mai,Phuket,Koh Samui,Koh Chang,Pattaya,Bangkok,Khon Kaen and Hat Yai.
We lived in Udon Thani for a year or so,about three years ago, which we enjoyed and was very handy for the 90 day visa run to Laos via Nong Khai.
But now we are planning to make the permanent move we are thinking very much about locating to Hua-Hin.
It must be about 15 years since I was there staying at the Sofitel.
I remember Hua-Hin had a lovely long beach, good golf and nightlife not too bad,but sedate compared to somewhere like Pattaya.....which most places are !!!
We would be planning to rent property for abour 6 months with a view to buying later.
If anyone has got some info about good places to rent, nice areas to live and recommended restaurants and bars, that would be fantastic.
We've been back in the UK for a couple of years now and all that has done is make me more eager to move back to Thailand !
Anyway, look forward to hearing from some of you and, hopefully,it wont be too long before we are enjoying the same great lifestyle as yourselves.
Cheers.

Hi Zidane,

Welcome to HHAD, you will find loads of information on the forum - it will take some time to search the various threads but it will be worthwhile.
I think its a great idea to rent for a while before buying - get a good feel for the place - it has changed a lot in the last 15 years! It is still a great place to live. It would be wise to book into a guest house for a week or so and find a fental property in this time, i can help you with this. A new golf course called Black Mountain has recently opened - 1 more under construction and another in the pipeline. As a golfer its all good!
If you cant find any particular answers then ask away!
All the best
