They were very much hit and miss only one or two flights a week and one included a 10/11 hour layover in Saigon!!

Flights to the US drop by 20+% in March and forward. No guarantee they will stay that price though.

When I booked, I checked the cost of Business flights and they were about £4,000 so very close to double. These were direct flights with Thai, but Etihad were just as expensive
My daughter booked towards the end of last month for business class on KLM. Cost around £2K which was less than half the cost of her usual choice. The only downside was that there was a stopover in Amsterdam. She's always taken a direct flight but the cost made it a no-brainer.

We have just flown back into Thailand and what a sorry sight was Suvarnabhumi Airport was - luckily no queues anywhere and through in a flash.
But the sight of tired and faded Thai aircraft parked and obviously out of use was very sad. They were everywhere.
We had to fly through KL to get here and what an arduous experience that was.
I think Thai only has a few scheduled flights a week to and from Australia from what was daily services from each capital city.
Covid has dealt a cruel hand to Thai Airways which was once great but now sadly very diminished.

Just to balanced things up, I flew out of Thailand to the UK last week on Thai and the plane was absolutely jam-packed, as was the airport. The passengers appeared to be mainly returning tourists. The service was fine, the plane was fine and it landed on time, so no complaints whatsoever.

Yes, the idiots! To get to Perth on Thai they expect you to fly via Melbourne or Sydney!
Phuket has been completly ignored. :guns:

As an Australian from Perth the biggest downside is actually getting here as Thai operate only one day a week and at an exorbitant cost.
Are you sure Thai Airways fly from Perth.

Last time I checked it was impossible to fly from Perth to Thailand direct. A pain in the arse!

You are dead right, can’t even find a flight anymore. Bit hard to fathom when the flights were always full.
Looks like you have to go via Melbourne or Sydney if you want to fly Thai.

If you come from Perth why not use either Singapore or KL. I was able to use Singapore for both legs but you may need to use (Scoot?) for the leg to Bangkok to avoid a longer stay in Singapore.
Company paid fortunately and used to use Thai but they have become overpriced and I don’t rate them. During COVID I had to use Qatar to Perth via Doha as it was the only airline operating and that is my favourite airline.
Prices at the moment a little crazy and hoping things calm down later in the year when I have to go to the UK

All very well and dandy if you are fit and well. Try it when you are partly disabled and really need a direct flight.
I sent an email to the Thai Tourist authority asking them to please give Thai Airlines a jolt. Of course, as to be expected, it was just ignorned, as was the one sent to Thai Airlines.

I have posted previously that Thai Airlines deserve to go bankrupt, and I stick by that. It is disgraceful that they expect people to fly to Perth via Sydney or Melbourne. It is also typical of a general Thai attitude of "stuff you mate, I'm ok"! :guns:

That a travel agent thinks that Perth to Bangkok via Melbourne of Sydney just. Shows how ignorant they are of the size of Australia. I had this offered to me a few years ago when the direct flight was operating and was quite abrupt in my response. Corporate travel agents just push buttons and look at figures with no idea of geagraphy.

Thai Airways has continued to keep one employee on the books in Perth, and eventually they will return to running direct flights to BKK. But when? "not in the foreseeable future" I'm told.
We managed to use a couple of post Covid Thai flights Perth-BKK before they redirected out of MELB and SYD, can't say we were overly impressed with the experience, a real step down on the Thai of old.
Booked with Singapore for next trip, but will also be trying out Scoot Premium in a few more weeks.
Has anyone tried a flight ex KL or Singapore to HH after departing Perth ? Getting a little tired of the runs to and fro to Swampy
Complexity is so simply overrated

I was thinking that one of the reasons for deleting direct to Perth was because of the overheads, staff requirement, offce space, accommodation, probably at least one car, plus the usual perks for the boys and girls.
At one time I was making round trips to Perth every 8 weeks, and I knew one of they girls in their office that used to brag about the perks.

I completed my return journey using Thai Airways, departing LHR on Saturday and arriving BKK early Sunday morning. Once again the flight was jam-packed with what looked like mainly tourists.

Passport Control was busy so took longer to navigate than normal (although I usually travel with my wife and go to the Thai counter) so my case was already on the conveyor by the time I got there - no problem with any bag inspection so out, into the taxi and reached Cha Am in just under 2.1/2 hours.
