Hotel Service Charge Bitch

Another one. Can anyone recall any hotels outside of Thailand that charge an automatic 10% service charge on each and every bill they issue, including the room charge? We won't discuss here the fact that this 10% never goes to the staff as tips, but into the hotel general fund.

I can't, and I've been about everywhere except the Middle East and darkest Africa.

I can recall this all starting in about 1985 here and it continues with no one apparently ever challenging their right to do this? Pete
