I still reckon that a clever (focused) producer could combine aspects that would suit a wide audience wanting thrills and spills as well as new car reviews, I mean in the UK alone they sold 1.6m of the damn things last year so I’m sure people would appreciate some of them being put through their paces!!

The four part BBC TV drama series Boiling Point is very good. It suffers from being a spinoff from the dramatically and technically amazing one off BBC TV film of the same name which was actually taken in one shot, and should definitely be watched first, but it's well worth a watch. Great for foodies too.

I’m difficult to please these days, but I got about half way through the first episode and gave up, but then again I’ve done the same with most BBC dramas of late. I’ve tried Boat Story and didn’t like that, same with Kin. The Woman in the Wall and Wolf were just very strange IMO.

However I quite like Shetland and there’s a new series of Vigil starting next month which I hope I’ll enjoy.

TBH it may be an age thing or a disassociation with times changing back home. The Woman in the Wall was excellent for me. But re entertainment it's always certainly horses for courses.

I think all BBC 'Play for Today' episodes are available online if you fancy it. They were certainly curate's eggs as far as I can remember, (just like 'Tales of the Unexpected'!) but there were some great ones.

I can't watch Shetland without the male lead I think. He carried it, for me; without him I expect it to be just another police procedural but with impenetrable accents (which you become attuned to after an episode or two ).

I must agree that Shetland without the male lead detective (Douglas Henshall) isn’t the same, but (IMO) still better than The Woman in the Wall (I must be too old)!! I also dislike the need for almost every programme these days to include the mass use of the “F” word - I understand that in some instances it can add to the situation, but in many cases (I think) it’s completely unnecessary!!

Re F word...... none more so than Mosquito Coast by a 14 Yr old boy to his parents no less.

Good job that was right at the end otherwise I would have ditched it!

Bodies, 8 part UK series. The same murder occurs and is investigated by police in three different eras. It's sci-fi but excellent period situations with actors you will know if you watch much recent UK TV drama, and the now ever-present Stephen Graham. If you can't handle time shifting sci-fi then look away now (Dannie Boy would definitely not enjoy it! :D) otherwise suspend belief be prepared to be well entertained.

You can downlod season 1 from Pirate Bay. Possibly from eztv, but for some reason I can't get to that site.

I gave up doing downloads a few years ago - I always seemed to have problems and now just can’t be bothered!!

There isn't a thread for radio programmes, probably because... well... people don't listen to the radio very much these days. Anyway, I'm listening to Series 80 of I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue on BBC Sounds. I may have mentioned this programme before but I make no apology for repeating myself. If you don't listen, you're missing out on the funniest thing ever.

When working, I used to listen to Radio Shows for a pastime - in the UK it was when having long spells on the road, when overseas it was the best option when connection speeds simply couldn't handle video.

That's a bold statement to make.... Being a huge fan of the likes of "The Goons" and listening to repeats of their shows time and time again, I'll certainly have to try this one if you believe it to be "the funniest thing ever...."!!
