Microscopes & Telescopes

Post by Terry »

Seems my two lads are at an age where these two instruments are of interest - and I'm delighted at the fact.

So - Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on reasonable quality equipment either in HH or BKK?

Birthdays and the like are approaching!!!

Thanks

Terry,

Panthip Plaza on the ground floor, I have seen a retailer with a mass of telescopes and a few microscopes. All sizes and variations from 3k to 50k Bhat. They will negotiate, one telescope priced at 35k was offered to me for 28K.

All the bits and pieces to go with them as well; software for maps with a diary to show what celestial events are happening, when and where; you can get attachments for cameras and all manner of extras.

The only other place I have seen them is Central Plaza but at nearly twice the price for the same or similar. :thumb:

Hi Terry.

If you don't know anything about telescopes, you should take a look here before you buy anything: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/equipment/basics

Quality telescopes may cost a fortune, but not necessarily if you know what to avoid and what to look for.

Read more from from one of the largest producers of astro telescopes in the world: http://www.meade.com/

And a link to state of the art telescope producer Takahashi: http://takahashiamerica.com/catalog/

If you need any help setting up your telescope I will be more than happy to help you.

You'll find some useful astro programs here:
http://www.midnightkite.com/software.html
http://freeware.intrastar.net/astronomyone.htm
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Norseman / JD thanks for that.

It seems Microscopes are of more interest - i.e. can look at bugs, plants, soil - a boys delight.

The Telescope came from the ensuing discussion of it being opposite to a Microscope - if you know what I mean.

Anyway - will check out Panthip - gives me another reason to go over there apart from some software I want.

Cheers
