jackie,
Pool tables (and snooker for that matter) should always be twice as long as they are wide, so you either should go for 8 x 4 or 7 x 3.5. Hope that helps.

About 4 years ago, I had a pool table built by a company called Bangkhuntien Billiard in Bangkok (southwest Bangkok).

The table was championship size (9' x 4' 6") and of extremely good quality:
1" Italian slate, Riley cloth, genuine hard wood, Aramith balls.
Came with 6 cues, cue holder, box of chalk, cue tips, 2 rests (normal and spider), scoreboard and 3-bulb overhead light.

I lived outside Khon Kaen at the time and they only charged me THB 3 k on top of the price to take it there and install it.

They said it would be ready in 4 weeks and it was actually delivered in 3 weeks.

The cost then was THB 70 k and it was a superb table.
The service from the company was also first-class.
For example, when they came to install it, there was one rest missing and the cue ball had a slight coloration impurity. They told me they would send these items on by post and they actually did arrive within about 4 days.

There is a lady there named Khun Sopit who can speak quite good English
(she was still there last year, anyway)

They have a website at www.billiard.co.th

Many thanks to everyone who has helped me to look for a pool table. I have sent email to the various companies so hopefully I will be able to purchase one very soon
