Vitidasrn under too much pressure and missing a lot of lines. Lost the first game 21-16. I'm not sure he has a lot more to give, having to defend a lot. Japanese smashes are on point.

How wrong could I be? The Thai found his attack in the second game and took it 21-14. The momentum is with him now ( I hope).404cameljockey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:08 pm Vitidasrn under too much pressure and missing a lot of lines. Lost the first game 21-16. Thailand are through to the men's badminton semis!
What a great match. Vitidsarn (8 seed) came alive after a limp first game and the Japanese (11 seed) lost his edge a lot, missing his shots. Final game was 20-12.

Have been watching the Rowing this morning
which has actually had a few very exciting/close races - GB missed out on the Gold in the Women's 4s, but took Silver in a hell of a tight finish. Looking quite good for GB today.
As for the medal table, it's the best start GB have had in Olympic history - let's hope it continues!!

GB v France field hockey about to start for a place in the quarter finals. GB I think are second ranked in the world but Australia looking very strong so far in this tournament.

Francw go into half time one up. Looked like an own goal although it touched a French stick before it went in so he can claim it. If GB lose they still can qualify but if they win they're definitely through.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 5:43 pm GB v France field hockey about to start for a place in the quarter finals. England had all the play but no goals. No goals from their last TEN penalty corners on this competition. The French keeper is playing well.

Well GB squeaked through to the quarters but tight. The French keeper really kept them in thr game until the end. 2-1 final scoreline not great against an inferior team ....404cameljockey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 6:36 pmFrancw go into half time one up. Thailand out in two games. The TPE lads are previous gold medal winners, and the Thai pair were always the underdogs, having never even taken a game off them in the past!404cameljockey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 7:35 pm Thai men's doubles badminton team one game down against Taipei. I'll watch now.

Thailand have an entry in the Women's Skiff due to start now (Sophia Montgomery...) but there's no wind, so not sure if it will start.

Absolutely criminal allowing trans male atheletes to compete against the fairer sex, let alone in the likes of boxing!!! FFS - If anyone can honestly tell me that Algerian is FEMALE after watching the video, I'll chip in for the CT/MRI

Boxer Khelif Through as Opponent Abandons in 46 Seconds
"Italy's Angela Carini abandoned her Olympic bout against Algerian boxer Imane Khelif inside 46 seconds, saying: "I had to preserve my life."
Khelif is one of two athletes who have been cleared to compete in the women's boxing in Paris, having been disqualified from last year's Women's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) - which did not organise the World Championships but is running the boxing at Paris 2024 - said welterweight Khelif was disqualified in India because of elevated levels of testosterone.
Having received a bye in the first round at the Olympics, the 25-year-old - who also competed at the Tokyo Games - entered Arena Paris Nord on Thursday to much applause from the many Algerians in the crowd.
After taking a punch to the face inside 30 seconds, Carini went to the corner for her coach to fix her headgear but after briefly resuming, returned to her corner once more and stopped the fight.
Just before Khelif's arm was raised by the referee, Carini could be heard on camera saying "it's not right".
She was in tears in the ring and as she faced the media after the bout..."

Re: Paris Olympics July/August 2024
Genetic testing (testing to determine the presence of a 'Y' chromosome, hence male) has been in use by international sports bodies on and off since mid last century.
What is criminal is that every major international sporting body does not make it mandatory for all women, in our age of fake females. A high level of testosterone can be a female abnormality, they are still women, but the genes don't lie.
Not to do this NOW is placing the lives of real women in danger, as well as depriving them of their chance of achieving sporting victories.
I'm happy to let people live their lives as they wish as long as it does not impinge wrongly on the lives of others. The arrogance of obvious men (the well publicised US butch 'female' swimmer on top of a podium a year or two ago was an outrage) winning women's sporting events must stop, and genetic regulation is the only sensible answer to me.

^ Well apparently, if it says FEMALE in their passport, it's good enough for the IOC!!
Anywho, watching "Track Events" at the moment with the 100m Men's Decathlon Heats - more Decathlon events coming up during the day. Can't say I have the same enthusiasm I did years ago when watching Daley Thomson and his nemesis Jürgen Hingsen - some incredible contests between the two!!
