The wife will get the latest hand decoration aka iPhone 16 and I inherit the current 15 version. As usual she will use less than 2% of its capability but it is more visible than the equivalent value in gold decorating her wrist but have much lower resale value and be harder to convert into cash.
Ultimately it is personal choice just as for most a vios would suffice but a fortune sits in the drive.

One feature I've seen friends use on high end Samsung phones is the ability to connect them to a monitor and keyboard and basically use them to replace a computer.
That starts to make the high price look a bit more justifiable if it's the only device you need.
I bought my last laptop during Covid but I don't really use it much anymore and don't think I'll be buying another one if I can pretty much do the same thing with a phone.

I couldn't do what I need to do with just a phone, much of it on here. Plus, my fingers simply aren't built right to handle the small keypad on a phone. I'm physically tired after typing and always correcting messages!

Big Boy wrote:My old phone was still functioning perfectly apart from firstly not supporting a compass application, and then a banking application. If it wasn't for the fact I need to pay a hefty bill very soon, my old phone would still be doing a sterling job for me.

Upgrading my phone was the best way forward, when considering all bill payment options. However, I will most likely pay that bill, and with the exception of knowing which way to drive when starting a journey, the new phone will have no advantage whatsoever over the old phone.

Yes, I've worked with IT long enough to realise things become outdated, and need upgrading, but people who change their phone every year because it's the latest model simply wind me up. I still can't see why people do it, other than to make phone companies rich. The fact my phone was 8 years old, support my philosophy - if its not broken, don't fix it. I've never checked the RAM on my old phone, but it was obviously sufficient for my needs.

I had already decided not to upgrade, and find another way to pay the bill without having to carry cash, but my DIL returned from Isaan at a very fortunate time. I am just very grateful that the Samsung shop have managed to make the new phone look exactly like the old phone. Only one app that they transferred failed - sofascore. With that I simply uninstalled and re-installed.

With the exception of mobile banking, I was never left wanting when out with people with top of the range phones. Yes, of course their phones could do a lot more than my phone (no argument), but most people don't know how to use that extra functionality.
Your old phone was 3gb RAM you checked it last time we discussed

A 1GB wouldnt 'work' for anyone who has more than about 7 apps(very few) and searching the internet would be slow and stalling. The computer part doesnt have the capacity to think or multi task.

Ps my phone is 4 years old next month. I hate changing phones too much work

Some of the S series Samsung phones can be connected to a full size monitor and keyboard and used with a desktop mode so that it basically becomes a full size PC.
