I’m surprised there hasn’t been any posts regarding yesterday’s games - I watched the BBC MOTD highlights this morning and witnessed some great games, particularly the game at the Emirates where Arsenal had by far the best of the game, but it took 2 extra time goals to eventually kill off Leicester.
Man City had to settle for a share of the points away to Newcastle.
Player of the day was surely Cole Palmer who scored a record breaking 4 first half goals for Chelsea.
Even Everton managed a rare win, as did now league leaders Liverpool.
The 3 games I watched yesterday were Newcastle v City, Chelsea obviously and then Wolves and Liverpool.
I didn't really enjoy the City game and feel that if Pep gave some freedom to his flair players, they would probably win these types of games, that they end up drawing. It's rinse and repeat the whole 90 minutes with them. Grealish ventures forward, gets so far, then stops and heads back the way he came, the one time he didn't and where someone made some space, they scored. But it's now become so formulaic, it's easier to defend against. Since Grealish moved to City, it's as if all the flair and excitement has been sucked out of him. That could have been Palmers fate - thank God he moved.
The dye has been cast for Chelsea, we could have easily scored 10, and probably should have scored 6/7, with Jacksons return to missing chances where he really should score, yet again becoming a hindrance. He seemed as depressed about this as all the fans were. We miss so many chances as a consequence. But equally, we could have also conceded 4/5 and Sanchez in goal just isn't good enough. So, Chelsea's football this season is going to be great for the neutrals, but a cause of nervous breakdowns for supporters!
I can't work out Wolves, they always seem to play pretty well, but always lose. Unless they invest in a new forward and centre back in January, I think they could be in serious trouble. So it was hard to judge Livepool. They did what they had to without being impressive.
By all accounts, Utd were much worse than the scoreline suggests - predictions that Tan Hag will soon be on his way with a golden wheelbarrow, although the players must be at least as guilty with no desire to show any pride!!
United didn't turn up. Spurs should have been 3/4 up at HT. Hard to see where United go from here. Spurs were by far the better team from start to finish.
