I think the only thing I’d disagree with in your post HV is not worrying about what’s behind you - as far as I’m concerned they are just as dangerous if not more so, than what’s in front of you.

Re the golf bag, stand it up, strap it to your back, put a helmet on top, and people will think you have a girl on there hugging you.

Re: Things That Wind Me Up Driving In Thailand
Today's wind-up was a Farang on his Forza riding up Soi 94 shopping for a massage girl. Head turned 90 degrees, driving all over the road to keep enough forward motion to keep the bike upright whilst going dead slow. Dangerous, and a pain in the arse.
Likewise with Thais riding around the 88/94 area in search of food. Concentrating so heavily on the food around them, they are totally unaware of what is going on around them. Weaving left and right, slowing right down if something on the roadside draws them in (yes huge similarities to today's Farang).
I'm surprised these clowns haven't tried taking their motorcycles inside Market Village when shopping.

In a parallel universe, there will be a post on the same topic ranting about an aggressive farang in a Ford Ranger driving up his arse, causing him to weave all over the road.
While we're on rants, its the young Thai girls playing Farcebook on their phones while trying to ride a bike that gets me - these pelicans deserve to come off.

You're right about the phones though. It used to be that as soon as they got on their bikes, the phone would go straight to their ear - at least they can see the road that way. These days, the screen is in front of them. Either making a video call, scrolling social media or playing games - very little chance of seeing what is on the road in front of them.

As I've said repeatedly on here that compared to 'western' countries SOME (not all) Thai drivers(riders) have absolutely no fear of losing their lives and that is the root cause of the problemBig Boy wrote:He should be so lucky. If I drove up his arse, his riding is so erratic, I'd be sure to knock him off. Actually driving with whatever is in his pants - I doubt he even noticed I was there.

I’m not so sure that they have no fear of losing their life, it’s more a case that they don’t comprehend the dangers

When I lived in Jakarta, I once asked a motorcycle taxi rider why they rode so suicidally and he said that his life was so bad that he didn't really care if he died.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 1:58 am I’m not so sure that they have no fear of losing their life, it’s more a case that they don’t comprehend the dangers
Re: Things That Wind Me Up Driving In Thailand
An old wind up, which is starting to re-emerge, and is quite dangerous.
Kamikaze Motorcyclists on Soi 94
Since the road outside Connections has been restored to resemble the surface of the Moon, it is unsafe for motorcyclists to ride on the left hand side going up the hill. Rather than wait for oncoming traffic, many are swinging over to the right hand road, causing oncoming traffic to brake, swerve violently or kill them.
It'll be good when the Soi 94 repairs are complete mid-November
, and safe riding practices can be restored.

I've noticed that with the high season approaching, a lot of these nutballs on scooters are farangs. Now you'd expect it from Thais who are practically born on motorcycles, but why do farangs think they can ride like lunatics here when in their own country they'd be locked up for doing so.
You didn't specify November of which year for those roadworks to end.

Re: Things That Wind Me Up Driving In Thailand
Very predictable, but being a holiday yesterday meant that the highway heading north was utter carnage with Bangkok lunatics driving at breakneck speeds, even off the road and along the verge at the side at times, in their blind rush to get back to the city and go through anyone in their way.
Accidents galore, traffic queues abundant, and the same lunacy that happens every long weekend when these "me first" fuckheads take over the roads. I should know better than to go near the roads on these days, but it was a lapse on my part.

Yes, I'm not sure what happened with this last weekend. There were numerous reports in the press basically saying the weekend was going to be a washout in Hua Hin/Cha-Am because of the severe weather/flooding. Hua Hin/Cha-Am were going to be deserted.
On Sunday, one of my son's students phoned from the flyover at the end of town saying the road into Hua Hin was totally gridlocked, and he was going to be late. He arrived on Soi 94 30 minutes late. I had heard other reports through Sunday about the gridlock in town.
Clearly, from buksi's report, yesterday was not much better.
The more I read in the press services here, the less I believe.

From what I saw on Phetkasem yesterday, the speed cameras at the airport would have been more lucrative than usual, assuming the fines get paid.Big Boy wrote:Yes, I'm not sure what happened with this last weekend.
