Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
Watching the second series of Ridley, standard police procedural but enhanced by Adrian Dunbar (Lines of Duty) playing the lead. This is not a patch on that, but I will always watch his very understated and empathetic police character portrayals. He's a bit of a depressive in this though.
Warnings:
-In the second series Dunbar gets at least one scene (a couple of minutes) in every episode where he sings and plays piano on stage, they're excruciating; you can skip them but they are mixed with cutscenes of other characters, you're not missing any plot development though. In the words of The Fast Show: "what WERE they thinking?".
-The intro to each episode is around a minute and a half long, unforgivable filler considering the credits as the end also give all the information at length. More continual pressing of the 10 second forward button, my remote will die soon .... At least there's no American style 'previously on Ridley' garbage before each episode for the 'hard of remembering'.

The first two episodes of The Day of the Jackal are quite good, slick, with some great locations. Eddie Redmayne is very watchable. Looks like we shouldn't expect the same depth of political intrigue as the film (and certainly the book) but take what's presented and it looks fun.

Quite looking forward to this, but with masses on at the moment, I'm going to leave it until all episodes are available.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 3:00 pm The first two episodes of The Day of the Jackal are quite good, slick, with some great locations. There is definitely a problem with episode numbers on the download sites, the episode 5 posted by two release groups so far looks to be ep.6 (refers to events I didn't see in ep.4), so I didn't watch it. Same was true for for Ep.3 although the 'repack' of 3 is fine. Looks like the groups have rushed this release.
Better to wait a few days I think.

The second half of season 5 of Yellowstone started yesterday, already available at the usual places.
Being a gamer, I'm also downloading Arcane, but this one is a little niche for most!

As a long-time gamer I'm sad to see that I have to wait over a year, maybe even close to two, to watch the second season of Fallout.
Arcane won't do it for me as animated TV series leave me cold (as League of Legends does). My bad I guess!
The first episode of Wolf Hall: The Mirror And The Light has just dropped. If you enjoyed the first series Wolf Hall this is reported to be even better.

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
I noticed that a US series From is showing a third season at the moment. So this week I watched the first two seasons.
But no more.
It's the same premise as the early 2000s' series Lost which ran for six seasons. I was suckered up until part of the fourth season. Then I saw the trick, which is that very weird mystery is piled on top of the already existing very weird mysteries, but unrelated to them and none are ever resolved. The situations become dafter and dafter, while you wait in vain for some connections to be revealed.
If you enjoyed the long-ago Lost you'll enjoy this.
PS - I just realised I lied, I'm going to start the third season and see how long I can last.

^ I found "From" a bit hit and miss TBH, though will continue to watch. May have to catch up again with the last couple of episodes though.... Christ though, the "Watch List" is growing ever longer!!
