^I was at the BYD dealership a couple of weeks ago and they include an installed charger in with the price.

"According to reports, the factory has invested approximately 200 million Thai Baht and can assemble up to 10,000 units of automobiles annually. The CEO of EV Primus revealed that with the help of SGMW's engineering team, the assembly of new cars has already begun. It is reported that the usage rate of local parts in the Wuling electric vehicle assembly plant in Thailand has reached about 50% and plans to continue increasing. After the official launch of the Wuling Bingo EV, the goal is to increase this to 60-70% by 2026."

"Global sales of EVs - whether fully electric or plug-in hybrids - were up 32.3% at 1.83 million in November, Rho Motion data showed.
Sales in China were up 50% at 1.27 million vehicles.
In the United States and Canada, EV sales were up 16.8% at 0.17 million, while Europe had sales of 0.28 million, down slightly year on year but up 7.7% from October."

We can ignore the two-thirds of the total which are in highly controlled Communist dictatorship where freedom of choice counts for little.
Most of the rest are PHEVs which have a petrol or diesel engine anyway. In the western world, particularly North America and the EU, actual people buying with their own money simply don’t want a battery car. And to quote a friend in the motor trade in the UK, ‘EVs are dog shit in the used car business’.

There have been so many “false starts” when it comes to the holy grail of EV battery claims, especially those regarding Solid State batteries, but if one of the most prestigious motoring magazines in the UK writes about the breakthrough, most people will sit up and take note - hopefully the future isn’t too far away!!

Hertz Continues EV Purge, Asks Renters if They Want to Buy Instead of Return

"Apparently Hertz's purging of electric vehicles from its fleet isn't going fast enough for the car rental giant. A Reddit user posted an offer they received from Hertz to buy the 2023 Tesla Model 3 they had been renting for $17,913.

Hertz originally went strong into EVs, announcing a plan to buy 100,000 Model 3s for its fleet by the end of 2021, but 16 months later had acquired only half that amount. The company found that repair costs—especially for Teslas, which averaged 20 percent more than other EVs—were cutting into its profit margins. Customer demand was also not what Hertz had hoped for; last January, it announced plans to sell off 20,000 EVs.

Asking its customers if they want to purchase their rentals isn't a new strategy for Hertz. "By connecting our rental customers who opt into our emails to our sales channels, we're not only building awareness of the fact that we sell arsenal but also offering a unique opportunity to someone who may be in the market for the same car they have on rent," Hertz communications director Jamie Line told The Verge.

Hertz is advertising a limited 12-month, 12,000-mile powertrain warranty for each EV, and customers will have seven days to return the car in case of profound buyer's regret.

According to The Verge, offers have ranged from $18,422 for a 2023 Chevy Bolt to $28,500 for a Polestar 2. We spotted some good deals from Hertz when we last checked, with some still eligible for a federal tax credit."

I'm looking to buy an Atto 3 in the next couple of months in Thailand and have already ordered solar panels.
I like the idea of driving around for free!
The world is installing renewable energy at an ever increasing rate and is soon going to be awash with very cheap electricity during daylight hours.
Some countries with large amounts of solar energy even have periods of negative pricing where you actually get paid to charge your vehicle to remove excess power from the grid during periods of low demand.

But I’m sure you won’t get paid in Thailand to use surplus electricity, still that shouldn’t put you off from either of your objectives.

Although I’m probably a year away from deciding, I quite like the spec and price of the SeaLion 6 PHEV!!

I had a look at the Sealion 6 earlier in the year and it's a good option if you want to drive long distance.
