Election Posters - Strange Dress Code

Post by Big Boy »

I'm guessing there is an election coming up judging by the number of billboard posters going up everywhere. What surprises me is that 95% of candidates are wearing PT Prachuap FC football shirts, as opposed to the usual smart uniforms. Does anybody know why they've all opted for football shirts this time?

Prachuap Privince had about 550K resisidents in 2018, and PT Prachuap FC has about 5K supporters, so this seems to be a very strange choice of dress. Can you imagine back in the UK, if candidates for a Manchester constituency wore Man Utd shirts. How many Man City fans would vote for them?

Provincial capital council administration (อบจ) elections for Prachuap town, so it makes sense that they'd support their local provincial team (even if the farangs in Hua Hin hate them  ).

But the posters are all over Hua Hin as well.

[Edit] Yes, I could understand it if Prachuap only, even though I think the usual uniforms look smarter.

Hmmm....... still a very strange dress code IMHO, especially when maybe only 1% of the electorate will even have the remotest idea what it is. It will make it very hard for some to distinguish between candidates.

Some of those candidates are very powerful, deeply involved with the football team, and have several businesses in the province. I would imagine the 'election' bit is just for show and the outcome has already been decided.

Yes, I can believe the outcome has already been decided.

LOL, I saw one today, and he looked like something out of an Al Capone movie. Probably a nice guy, but the photographer did him no favours.

I've now started to notice billboards appearing showing candidates wearing many different clothes. This has got me thinking, 'Are all of the Prachuap shirted candidates one party?' This would make sense if correct, and I'd understand why they are all wearing the same football shirts - a kind of uniform to distiguish them from the other parties. My hatred of PT Prachuap aside (actually had nothing to do with the OP), I genuinely thought it strange that all candidates dressed exactly the same.

Is this where my misunderstanding came from please?

I noticed one today, a woman, and no sports jersey.
