Hi all every time i go to Thailand
and catch up with friends there
i always ask them what they miss from home in the UK
It normally is a certain Food / Drink / Body Product....

Im obviously going to move as soon as i can Mid 09 i recon
What else.....

I know the wife loves Waggon Wheels!!!

I Know a lad from Samui who got a vacuum packed Kebab
sent over from his birthday....

It probably all been covered before but there are a few newbies
here like myself now......

So What cant you get???
or couldnt for years but now can etc????

I worked for years in Asia with a guy who used to endlessly miss pork-pies, but these are now available in Hua Hin which is probably why he is in the process of building a house there!

Walkers Cheese & Onion crisps (Hua Hin Ham, Bacon & Meat has had them in, but AFAIK they aren't a regular item), pickled onion Monster Munch, twiglets (again can get on very rare occasions) and decent wine at a decent price - you can get decent wine, but it's very expensive. :(

Just be aware that many food products are banned imports, particularly meat products. Like everything else in Thailand you can probably "oil" your way through customs, but it is illegal, and if you plan to stay here long term you may want to take it into consideration. :cheers:

The lack of salted licorice is a terrible hardship. But you don't get that in the UK either I believe, so it's hardship there same same. I guess you have to be from Sweden or Denmark to fully grip how important this is to the quality of life. :oops:

If you happen to know someone who imports this, please let me know! (I don't count the "Haribo Bären-Pranken" they sell at Mini Farm and in the Supermarket near the corner of Sofitel. They're better than nothing but far from the real stuff. I'm talking "Haribo Superpiratos" and the likes.)

Richard, that really was unfair showing that pic - I've got to stop looking at it or I'll be salivating all over the keyboard.

Saying that, Mr. P (Parahandy) enjoys cooking, so he can knock up most of my favourites. Yorkshire pud, no problem, a decent piece of beef (avoid the talat nats and go for the Ham & Bacon Co. or All-In Hua Hin), veggies all easily available here - except swede (he calls it neeps or turnips, because he's from north of the border).

If you're prepared to invest in a decent oven, and you scout around Hua Hin, you can get pretty much what you could in the UK. I'm sorry Thailand, but your food doesn't quite hit the spot for us oldies. Too set in our ways I guess...

missing food-wise

...strange, last time around in HH, 3 months ago -I went scouting for food at many of the markets and the supermarkets for different stuff (real mayo etc..). This time around I did not even have the time to search for it...let alone miss anything. Then again, when you are only here for 4-8 weeks at the time, you might not have the same cravings as some of you...
