iNaturalist.org in Hua Hin

Post by wenshidi »

This is a very interesting interactive map of Hua Hin.

I learn a lot about the local flora and fauna from this site. It looks like the Biology Teacher at Hua Hin School has been especially busy. Hopefully I will be able to add some of fave old growth trees in the future.

Interesting resource, thanks. Will have a deeper look and may even join up. It would be especially useful when camping in the hills where the wildlife varies a lot and you see a lot of things that don't live near people.

I might also see if I can borrow a mobile and tag some local points of interest. For example, I often see migrant workers foraging by the roadside, and I would love to know the kind of plants that are picking. I would also like to mark some of the bigger fruit trees for other modern hunter gatherers. I am especially tempted to tag some of those massive monster plants outside Thong Suk, oppo Big C. ;-)

Thanks wenshidi, very interesting (after I re-read the title and realised it didn't say 'naturist' )

But my first search was for 'shrews' and it only found a Lesser Green Leafbird. Teething problems maybe, as searching for 'tupaia glis' returns no results at all so I guess it needs a lot more input for Hua Hin.

Anyone can make an account and start to make observations, we can all join in, so I imagine accuracy might be a problem too unless there's decent moderation!

That is not a good initial search, as I suspect that quite a few of my exes would show up under that term. ;-)

I especially like the candid shots of canis familiaris! Although I was surprised that not a single plant at the Chiva Som organic gardens are listed.
