my mother got us to put formaldyhide on our feet if we had atheletes foot, it kills any fungal things, she also used it to suffocate kittens humanely.

That was neat formalddyhide, and it did me no harm , i think, so i drink singha when trying be a rich farang , chang when i go to local shop in prachuap because it is all she has but i like to give her businese, cheers when i knacker drink with thai teenagers on prachuap beach, and leo when my friend the barber and me have thai barbeque on the promenade with old men in brown and seafood, and friend from coastguard.

If your worried about the affects of an all night binge, dont drink so much, thats the only thing will save your health, not what brand you drink

so keep the glass half full so you can emty it again

a few more visits to thailland and i will be pickled, but expensive to get pickled in ireland now a days.

spoke to a german brewer who sells large style breweries in asia.

says he: no, all the talk about chemicals in those asian beers is nonsense.

he spoke with rather great respect for beers brewed in asia.

but the brewing processes vary.

me I get ruined by singha beer (not the 70 yrs jubilee singha though).

also no probs with leo, whereas heineken still gives the cleanest aftermath feeling.

but its the brewing process mate, not the formaldehyde.

The chemical [formaldehyde],..., does play a part in the brewing process, but does not pose a threat to public safety, Xiao Derun, director of the beer branch of the China Alcoholic Drinks Industry Association, told China Daily...

There are different forms of the chemical and there are even forms given to children as medicines for gut problems. This I know from personal experience but the bottom line is it still reeks.

There are not "different forms" of formaldehyde. But it is true that at very low concentrations it is harmless.

I hate to start a new thread on an old subject. I searched for "beer" and got 15 pages of posts. SUGGESTION: Can perhaps the search function key in on the search word if it's only in the title/topic of the post and, not the body of the post?

Anyway, I picked this thread. I've been avoiding Singha for years because of the bitter, overly hopped up with hops recipe they used. Just this past week I've tried a few, then a few more and that bitter after taste is no longer there.

Is this just me or do other old hand Singha drinkers notice the same thing? Pete

I think you are perhaps right.
I used to like it more but now it seems to lack some of the bitterness I enjoyed.
Another possibility is that out taste buds have changed!

It's been about 4 years for me so perhaps something not that recent but definetly different than before. Or, perhaps as you said, we have aging and damaged taste buds. Pete
