A bit more on the sacked HH City footballer:

At the end of the first half of the match against Hua Hin City at Khao Takiap Stadium on March 2, Hua Hin, the visiting team Rajpracha was leading 3-0. After attempting to head the ball away, a Rajpracha player fell to the ground, causing the referee to stop the match and call the medical staff onto the field. Believing that the visiting player was deliberately lying on the ground to waste time, Songkran approached and kicked his opponent.

This behavior caused Songkran to receive a direct red card from the referee. The Hua Hin City defender became even angrier and punched the referee hard in the face, then turned to punch Srithai Bookok of Rajapracha.

The incident caused the match to be interrupted for 8 minutes. Bookok - the player who was attacked by Songkran - suffered a serious injury to his right eye, could not continue playing and was substituted off the field. In this match, Rajpracha won 5 - 2.

According to Siamsport, Bookok is likely to need eye surgery due to a blood clot. The club also filed a complaint against Songkran with the local police for assault.

Hua Hin City has apologised to Rajpracha as well as the player and referee who were assaulted. The club has announced that it will consider the most severe punishment, and has terminated Songkran's contract.

In addition to the violence, the incident also attracted attention because Songkran, who works as a police officer, posted an apology on social media, admitting to losing his temper and taking responsibility for what happened.

Violent incidents that damage the image of Thai football usually result in a 2-4 match ban and a fine of 40,000-60,000 baht ($1,170-$1,750). But according to Thairath and Siamsport, Songkran is likely to face a much heavier punishment than the standard.

The saga continues................

𝗛𝘂𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲

A Hua Hin City footballer, sent off on Sunday for punching an opponent and the referee during a Thai League 3 West match against Rajpracha F.C., has been banned for five years, the Thai Football Association has confirmed. The incident occurred during a chaotic home game at Khao Takiab Stadium, where Rajpracha secured a 5-2 victory despite the dramatic events that unfolded.

Songkran Phuangnoi, a defender for Hua Hin City, was at the centre of the controversy. The trouble began in the first half, with Rajpracha leading 3-0. Frustrated by what he perceived as time-wasting, Songkran confronted Rajpracha’s Thanachart Phocha, who was lying injured on the sideline. This sparked a clash with Rajpracha’s Srithai Bugok, escalating into a physical altercation that forced Rajpracha to make an early substitution.

The situation worsened when Songkran, after poking a Rajpracha player in the right eye with his finger, was shown a red card by the referee. In response, he grabbed the referee by the neck, punched him in the face, and then turned to attack a Rajpracha player, kicking him in the thigh and striking his face. As he left the pitch for the locker room, Songkran shouted threats at the referee, further inflaming the incident.

The Thai Football Association’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee reviewed the episode and handed down a stern punishment. Songkran was found guilty of multiple offences, including physically assaulting another person, causing harm to a match official, attempting further violence leading to unrest, threatening the referee, and receiving a second red card for violent conduct. The committee ruled that his actions were severe and damaged the reputation of Thailand’s professional football league.

As a result, Songkran Phuangnoi has been banned from all competitions organised by the association for five years, effective immediately. The punishment also includes a 20-match suspension, a stadium ban, and a fine of 310,000 baht. However, as the incident occurred in a Thai League 3 match, the fine was reduced to 77,500 baht, one-fourth of the original amount.

The decision was unanimous, with the committee citing violations of FIFA regulations. The ban effectively ends Songkran’s involvement in competitive football until at least March 2030.

I think Hua Hin City have problems following last week's violent debacle. I can't see where they have advertised todays match. They are actually Away to Assumption Utd today. This is the best poster I could find:

It doesn't help that Hua Hin City have dumped a page where they had 28.5K followers, in preference of a page where they have just 1.5K followers. 2 factions pulling in different directions, but both forgetting to advertise today's match. Actually, one advertised it twice about 5 minutes ago :? .
