My wise virtual card works fine for Bolt
God knows why the Santander card doesn't work as its perfect with Grab

American Express worked fine a few weeks ago with Bolt in Prague, Czech Republic. It's the same Bolt app I use in Thailand, as far as I know.
Re: Bolt ride hailing app
Has anyone used Bolt for a longer ride, say going to Bangkok?
Have compared it with Grab, which is nearly 25% more for the same journey, which I presume is the app's commission, not the driver's rates as they're similar vehicles.
Also odd that the electric car option is 15% more expensive than a regular car on Bolt, you would have thunk an EV would be cheaper to run?

Re: Bolt ride hailing app
You're right about the apps commission. When Bolt first started out they charged the driver zero commission. Not sure if still the case
Electric vehicles are typically very new clean cars which the driver is looking to recoup a bit of extra expenditure on

So nobody has used it for a long journey? I guess we'll find out ...

For longer journeys it is cheaper to ask one of the many taxi companies in Hua Hin

Respectfully I doubt that. A Bolt taxi to Nana BTS is 1800 from Central HH. I seriously doubt you'd get cheaper than that from a local taxi firm.pitsch wrote:For longer journeys it is cheaper to ask one of the many taxi companies in Hua Hin
For sure they would go to the airport for less but that's different(multiple fares)

Re: Bolt ride hailing app
Just checked and prices are on par so maybe better to go with a reputable firm in HH than gamble on a Bolt driver/vehicle.

They may not be the absolute cheapest but Bliss Taxis have a good reputation

Re: Bolt ride hailing app
Personally I have paid circa 30% more for a private local service and on several occasions.
However I was simply making the point that a local firm is not cheaper than Bolt per se for a ride to Bkk

Re: Bolt ride hailing app
Bolt may be 100 baht or so cheaper, but its a bit of a lottery (not that we've had a bad driver yet). It worked out about 1,700 to BKK whereas Bliss charge 1,800, we'll take the latter on recommendations here.

Re: Bolt ride hailing app
I have a car from Bliss travel taking us to the airport now, charge 1500,- baht.
We have 2 big suitcases, 2 cabin luggage, 1 rucksack, 1 travel bag.
Car spacious enough for us 2. Pleasant ride.
Re: Bolt ride hailing app
So the cheaper "eco car" option can carry all the baggage? Good to know, thanks!

Can you choose the vehicle? If they send a Honda Jazz, squeezing the cases in will be a challenge!
