Portable power banks/stations

Post by buksida »

Does anyone use a portable power station or can recommend one? Looking for one for camping trips; around 200 to 300 watts should suffice for recharging phones, cameras, lights, etc., and maybe running a fan while in remote places that have no power.

There are a few on Lazada, but most are non-branded, and you never know what you're going to get from that site - not sure where else to look as they're not a common item. Would prefer a US or Japanese brand over a cheapo Chinese or local one with an inferior battery.

I was looking at solar panels in Global, Pranburi a couple of weeks ago and I think they had them there.
The other place that might have one is that expensive camping shop in the basement of MV.

I've bought branded items and cheaper options in the past and both batteries degrade quickly in Thailand. The more expensive brands are usually sealed units and renewing the batteries are difficult.
If I was you; look for one that you can change the cells every year as that's probably all they are good for regardless of the cost.

Cheers guys, I found a US company called EcoFlow, which has an outlet in Thailand selling exactly what I was after. It can also be charged off the solar panels that I already have.

I was going to suggest them, but a little pricy. DJI also has smaller units, 500w & 1000w, @ 13k & 17K baht. Newer LFP batteries would be my choice. I've suggested them to folks in the past, and all thought I was nuts ... Phang Mak Mak

Here's a better link / price, from EcoFlows flagship @ LAZ .. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/ecofl ... 3t64q9jqka

Check specs make sure same unit, as could find specs on your link, but should be. LAZ link is LFP battery. Plus flagship shore for EcoFlow

Looks decent quality and not overly expensive.
Let us know how you get on with it.

What portable solar panels are you using?

I bought this unit for the bike years ago and think I charged my phone with it once and didn't do much touring after. Sold it to the chap that had the London bar at the time. Wishing I kept hold of it..

I don't have a portable one, its a standard 120W panel that I can throw in the back of the truck with the camping gear.

Got to test out the EcoFlow over NY, and it gave us power for around 24 hours before needing a charge. We used it to run lights and charge phones and the speaker, nothing heavy-duty. It comes with an app that enables you to monitor wattage inputs and outputs which is also handy.

Now I need to find a portable solar panel so we can charge it on the road as the one we have is too big, though it did come with an adaptor to charge it off the truck.

@ Buksida, are you using a portable 12V/plug-in coolbox? If so, what are you using?

Bought one of these, we only really use it when camping ... and during power cuts which are quite common! Bought a Japanese icebox which keeps stuff frozen for a couple of days.
