Aquariums?

I need a new aquarium for my newly redecorated bathroom. We bought the last one ( now cracked) in Petburi and I have been looking around HH for a place to buy a new one. I would like to get one made to size. Anyone know of a place in town? Seems like a common enough item, esp. in a boom town with houses and condos sprouting right and left. .and tropical fish are so cheap here compared to the US!

There used to be two separate tropical fish vendors and aquarium specialists at the Grand market on Wednesdays, not sure if they're still there these days though I need to go tomorrow to get some live feed so will check. They can make aquariums to order, I have two of them.

Other than that there is a place in the day market (Chat-chai) that sells tropicals and one along the railway road, I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

I seem to recall somebody on the forum tying to find a UV filter for their aquarium recently.
During the course of buying reticulation equipment in Bangkok last week, the shop that I was in has them. German manufactured I believe. If anybody wants more info PM me, or I could post it on here if allowed.

Sure can, pretty much anything is allowed aside from real estate sites, competitors and blatant plugs! (oh and griping about the mods )

What I would like to get is a decent water siphon, doing a 50% water change on a 110 gallon tank once a week isnt much fun!

Also water test kits for nitrates, I've never seen them anywhere here and I've seen some pretty big fish in pretty small tanks - how do they survive!

The vendors in the Grand night market now cover Wednesday and Thursday . Very good prices for custom builds although accessories seem a liitle poor quality compared to home .The new one in the carpark under market village offers the same and more services with higher quality livestock selection although limited in choice of species and at a higher price .Mind you i would not want to pay his rent !

Other than the ones Buksida has mentioned I have had difficulty finding anywhere that stock anything apart from buffalo head or dragon fish for freshwater and nowhere for marine species outside Bangkok .

The weekend market in Bkk has a huge amount of Aquarist supplies and they sell at Wholesale prices.

I had a 6 meter ( 3 sections) tank mad in Pattaya by a glazier and most of the glass suppliers seem to be able to make them .
The stand was manufactured by the local blacksmith and maker of stainless steel gates who also delivered it and carry it up to the 11th floor to my condo when 'qui fallang' hadn't mentioned getting it in the lift.
It didn't fit!

Don't forget a cubic meter of water is one metric ton though if you live in a place with wooden floors.

The whole thing cost me 300 Pounds , UK .

You probably know this , but if you get about a Kilo of gravel from an existing tank with a good bacterial content and put that in the new one you will avoid 90% of the problems with the water.
It gives the ammonia cycle a kick start so the plants flourish quickly and take up the nitrates.
I have my own theory that nitrites are volatile and just topping up the water can be enough.
If they want then evaporation in a closed pond or lake, for example, would concentrate them to toxic levels.

I managed to set up my tank with a balanced ecology and I have only done two water changes in as many years.
The only losses have been when the buggers eat each other.
