Retirement Extension - Can I Book a Home Visit?

Post by Big Boy »

As you will soon learn, I have been almost completely disabled, and will not return to full strength for at least 6 months.

What can I do about Retirement Visa Renewal (due 7th July?).

I am happy to pay for an I/O to visit me at home. Outside of that, I'll most likely have to hire a Private Ambulance, and do my renewal on a stretcher trolley.

Maybe you could ask an agent to see if they can find a solution?
Just a thought.
Wishing you a quick recovery.

I think a necessary first step is to get your hospital to explain your condition and treatment plan with as much detail as possible, as Gov people here like all that as you know.

Maybe your son whose fluent in Thai and English, could visit the Immigration Office and ask them direct?

My friend went to Immigration in Bluport while he was in a wheelchair. The greeter officer told him since he is in a wheel chair they would come to him. Not sure how to get hold of them and that was for 90 day so not sure if it holds for retirement ext.

Hope your recovery goes well!!

Thanks guys. I was considering one option to ask an agent.

I've also been considering the 'sending my son' route.

Migrant's solution sounds very similar, although it does seem the solution might be out there.

I was just hoping that I can't be the only Retiree to suffer an unfortunate accident, and was hoping there was a precedent, and somebody could say do this. Looks like this will be a trailblazing job - I will report back. Either that or I'll post a video of the private ambulance crew pushing me up that hideous ramp

I'm fine - all fixed, no pain. Just need to learn to walk again.

The only problem with using what someone else did previously, the rules change on irregular frequencies so hopefully your son can get it from the horses mouth - if not we’ll look out for the video :duck:

A few years ago, I was in hospital in Khon Kaen when my renewal was due. To make it worse, due to covid, I only got my new passport back a week or so before renewal, so that was another issue to be sorted!

We used a trusted agent to visit immigration on my behalf, with a note from the hospital and authorisations from me - basically I just signed stuff blindly - and pics of me in all my finery!

When I say trusted, a friend of the family and a lady who I had previously met socially.

It was all sorted with no issues.

Edit - I was in hospital in Khon Kaen, but living in Hua Hin. I had more probems at HH immigration over my TN29/30 (whatever) when I returned after just over 2-months away than I did with the extension.

Also to echo what others have said, good to see you back and good luck with your recovery.

Hi BB, sorry to hear about your problems.
This website suggests a power of attorney in this situation to allow someone else to renew your visa:
