Never heard of anyone needing 12 months statement where you are using the >฿800k route and certainly not using an agent?

Oh well, I guess it’s just another of the inconsistencies that happens here, although I use Cha Am Immigration not Hua Hin.

Not sure what the Dodge is, but yes I just leave the 800k in the bank earning about few hundred Baht interest - no doubt not the most financially efficient method, but it’s very straightforward!!

You need the 12 month statement because transactions are often grouped when making up your passbook. The I/O needs to see every transaction.

I’ve never provided 12 months statements and it’s never been questioned - can’t believe I’ve just been lucky?

As always, it depends upon who you speak to on the day. However, when my son and daughter were sorting my visa extension for me because I am currently incapacitated last week, Immigration gave them a list of what would be required from the bank. The 12 month statement was on the list of bank requirements.

But was that because you use the monthly transfer basis - I leave just over 800k in an account that I never touch throughout the year?

We do too, leave the 800k in the bank untouched, but last year we were told by the IO that for this year's renewal they want 12 months statement

No, the I/O needs to see the balance has not dropped below whatever the minimum is throughout the year. The way the bank accumulates transactions on the passbook, an error could easily be overlooked.

'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

Post by Dannie Boy »

Well as I said, I’ve never provided more than 3 months balance and it’s never been questioned - I think Joelle confirmed the same at Cha Am, so maybe that’s the difference and they are only requiring it for this year onwards!!
