According to Ledger, and widely corroborated by security experts, no Ledger hardware wallet has ever been successfully hacked to remotely extract private keys. The core security of Ledger devices relies on a Secure Element chip and a proprietary operating system (BOLOS) that isolates your private keys from online threats. Even if your computer is compromised, your private keys are designed to remain safe within the device. There is jowever a vulnerability in a Ledger-related software component or third-party integration leading to stolen funds.

This is promotional material from the company, I had one of their devices and it was compromised 2019, so it can happen. Fortunately, there wasn't much on it in monetary value at the time. I am also one of the thousands of their customers who still get phishing attempts from their data breaches which leaked personal info to scammers all over the internet. Wouldn't go near them, am quite happy where my assets are stored, thank you, (and it won't be in Thailand where financial surveillance is approaching Chinese levels.)
