Worth a read, and some contemplation.

There’s a reason why it feels like the internet has gone bad

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/01/13/busi ... index.html

New York CNN —

Facebook is full of AI slop. X is full of “free thinkers” peddling conspiracies. Google’s search results are telling us to eat rocks. More and more, it feels like the internet has gone bad.

There’s an increasingly popular theory about why: “enshittification.” .....................

Good article. This bit sums up the FB situation ...

"This is where Facebook is. They are trying to maintain this equilibrium where they extract enough that they keep their shareholders happy, but not so much that people leave. They’re now at the end of a long run of extremely bad choices. I’m not shorting Meta stock, but I think that they are on the path to becoming a kind of zombie — something like MySpace is today. You know, MySpace still exists. You can go to MySpace. It’s just AI-generated slop and and spam."

Has anybody else noticed that Facebook is truncating after 2 or 3 topics whilst using their computer/laptop, and has been doing so for about a week? The only way that I can get full access is via my VPN.

Yes, same for me for about a week. I haven't tried my VPN, just close it and do something else.

I get that occassionally, but it normally returns to normal quite quickly. If I am just browsing posts, I switch to videos or whatever, or do something else. But no issues right now, without VPN

I've just turned my VPN off, and all is well again. Whatever was happening, must have ended.

LOL - I see some of the Facebook Pages that I manage now have an AI Digital Assistant. One of my assistants has just posted a news summary on my Ratchaburi Football Club page, which I am quite impressed with i.e.:
Dragons Roar into New Season: Fixtures, Injuries, and Warm Welcomes!

2025/26 Fixtures Revealed!
A community member shared the first 3 fixtures for next season - subject to change, but exciting nonetheless!
First 3 matches have been confirmed by another user.
Will you be cheering at Ratchaburi Stadium for these matches? [1]

Tragic Turn of Events...
A huge fan shared devastating news: a slip at a gas station led to a broken femur and possibly missing LIVE football for the rest of the year!
Community members flooded in with speedy recovery wishes - what a heartwarming Dragons fanbase! [2]

New Blood Joins the Flock!
We welcomed many new members aboard - excited to have you cheering with us for Ratchaburi FC!
Will you be attending matches or watching from home with fellow fans? [3]

What's got you most pumped for the new season - fixtures, team news, or something else?
I'll obviously have to keep a close eye on it, but I'm quite impressed so far.

Great BB, but ......I am an AI tools developer and think some cautiousness is needed with 'auto replies' through AI.
To give an example, everyone was talking about Musk his Chatbox GROK and the information it spread about nazi's and jews.
I did not think it was strange, or that far off at all...

Musk in the past has shown support for ultra right wing politicians, and especially the party in Germany.
The AI auto reply function, when asked a question, wil scour everything on the internet, printed news as well as social media linked to Musk and the subject.
Given that fact and Musk his love for ultra right (German) politics, plus maybe some other historical posts/information released but unknown to us, was made clear during US, Germany and a few other elections, AI found them and shared that information. AI linked German Untra Right to Nazi Germany... ooooops
Point I am trying to make is that the same goes for everyone that posts or has posted 'opinions on subjects'...... Keep in mind; AI doesn't have human consciousness or emotions.. so will make a conslusion based on given information and without the timing factor...
Dreams to remember.....

As I said, I will have to keep a very close eye on anything posted, and I still have full moderator control over anything posted.
