hotel on Petchkasem Rd. from 2005

Post by 2theD »

I used to live in Hua Hin 2002-2005. Occasionally when the girlfriend would come from Bangkok we would stay at a hotel on Petchkasem Road. For the life of me I can't remember what it's called. Going out of town towards the south, the hotel is on the left-hand side with it's driveway right on the mainroad. It used to have a stone entrance, with rooms in a 3-storey main building with a shortcut walk to the beach, where I think they were building another hotel directly on the beach in 2005. They had a small swiming pool, too, across from the outdoor reception desk. I think the place is before the hospital (not entirely sure).

Anyone help an old resident out?

I think Marriot.
Previously I think it was called something else.

Good thinking Jim. Anyone coming to HH will need to visit the immigration dept so off to Soi 102 we go.

I don't think it's the Royal Garden Resort, because I stayed there in 1996, and it's north of Hua Hin. It's now another hotel, and for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.

A flash of something: Anantara?

But it's not what 2theD is looking for. Are you sure it's not after the hospital? The place has changed so much over the past few years it's really difficult to locate previous haunts.

It was The Royal Garden Village, north of town, that changed to The Anantara - I also stayed there in years gone by as well and a great hotel is was.
The Royal Garden Resort changed to The Marriott when the two were sold off.
However, from the OP's point of view it's probably academic as I also don't think it's the establishment they're looking for.

Pagey deserves a big sloppy kiss from whoever he chooses. Chan Chay Bungalows it is! It's after the hospital, after Marriot and across from Hua Hin Wittayalai School. Keen eye on poor directions! Much thanks y'all. Can't wait to go to All in Hua Hin, again. See y'all there in October.

2thed - I stayed there for 3 days in July and it has been completely revamped from when I stayed last year. The reception and breakfast area is being knocked down and rebuilt, probably as bungalows. A new building has been built alongside the pool, on the right as you drive in, which now houses the reception and breakfast area with new rooms upstairs, similar standard to the old with balconies etc.

I don't know what is happening to the old rooms, whether they are still used or being revamped.

The price is the same, around 1300 Baht for a superior room, incl breakfast.

Incidentally, just past there, right opposite the Market Village entrance, is another new or revamped place called the White House Hotel. Similar standard with 3 size rooms but the small is similar to Chan Chay, also with balconies and direct beach access and a small clean pool. the small room was 1000 baht without breakfast. I chose the fourth floor as this had a sea view.

So, who's volunteering for that sloppy kiss ??? :thumb:

I'm sure you can find someone to do the kissy bit Pagey - enjoy! :)

I was totally off track, thank you Lomuamart. The Royal Garden Village was a truely beautiful place to stay. Got a cheap deal from the UK, at that time it was about 300 quid for a week (incl. a flight and B & B). Those were the days...

P.S. 2theD, I hope the somewhat sporadic, at the moment, raining season has finished by the time you get here. But, hey, the rain's warm here so it's no bother.
