La Mer Restaurant
La Mer Restaurant
After numerous visits to Hua Hin over many years, we decided to venture out to La Mer Restaurant at Khao Takieb yesterday evening.
- Upon arrival, there was somebody there to open the car doors for us, and lead us to the table of our choice (it was not busy).
- The food was excellent, and came in European sized portions.
- The location was second to none. A fantastic view across the bay to Hua Hin when we arrived, followed by the lights of the sea shore and fishing boats as the light faded. We were even entertained by an electrical storm out at sea.
- The prices were quite reasonable for such a nice location.
- The service was first class.
All in all a very enjoyable evening that I'd recommend to everyone.
There was only one drawback - the live entertainment ie there were 2 singers alternating:
- 1 lady singing Thai songs totally out of key.
- 1 man, who thought he was Elvis, danced like Elvis, but sang such classics as Puff the Magic Dragon.
Going back to my first bullet above, our choice of table was as far away from the live entainment as possible.

I agree on all points Big Boy .The seafood is amongst some of the best in Hua Hin and he really does think he is Elvis .Never heard him do puff the magic dragon but knocking on heavens' door with Elvis pelvic gyrations was highly entertaining .

Go at lunchtime. Same fantastic view (but in daylight!!) Same great food, usually quiet, good service & no entertainment! I've only ever been there for lunch.

Dawn, must aggree with about lunch rather than dinner for the view.
Also BB, if you are still in Hua Hin, try lunch or an early dinner at the Lets Sea which is beach front about halfway from Hua Hin towards Koh Takiab.
Ambience is good, food and staff excellent.
Great place to enjoy a few quite ones and watch the sun go down

Always Borrow Money from a Pesimist. "They Never Expect it Back"
Jim we were there in late afternoon and was so relaxing, and the sky look so good as the sun was going down (was what I meant to say).
Anyway, as u say still a great spot and well worth a visit (if only to see one of the amazing rest rooms I have ever seen anywhere I have been).

Chelsea, is that the restaurant with the "open air" restrooms with the water feature? I know it's one of the restaurants I've been to in that area, but can't remember which.chelsea wrote:Jim we were there in late afternoon and was so relaxing, and the sky look so good as the sun was going down (was what I meant to say).
