New Zealand 76 - Italy 14. I think a locomotive is running loose here. Pete

Condoking, thanks, that post gave me a good laugh (which I hope I won't need after tonight!)

As far as NZ are concerned, I suspect they'll be more concerned about conceding 14 points against Italy than happy about scoring 76.
This is the way

What a fantastic game of rugby last night between France & Argentina. Argentina really surprised me with a complete game plan. In fact, France often had the better of them in the tight phases and scrum, which you would have expected Argentina to dominate but the all round commitment of the Argentine players in all facets of play was just amazing. Throughly deserved win and proof that Aregentina are now a very formidable side. Glad that Wales are not in that group. I still expect France to win all their remaining pool matches. Could be tough for Ireland now.

What made the France - Argentina game even more enjoyable was that I watched Cardiff Blues defeat Newport Dragons 40-13 in their own backyard immediately before it!

I expected a comfortable win for NZ but Italy were very disappointing - I expected them to put up a much better showing. This is the first world cup where anything has been expected of them and I think they bottled it. The all blacks did what they always do - made very few mistakes in a ruthlessly efficient but unspectacular performance.

Sat watching the Japanese putting up a reasonable showing against the Aussies - only 3-0 to Aus after quarter of an hour!

I think the kiwi game told us more than the wallabies match.

NZ took Italy apart, and Itlay won 2 games in the 6 nations!

Australia had no real opposition - Wales may fancy their chances!

Wales has one under their belt, and Samoa only 24 minutes in seems to be making a match o fit against the Springbucks. Time to watch and get off of here. Pete

Is it too soon to say/think that this will turn into a Tri-Nations competition near the end? Pete

I don't see the South African captain I remember from the last Tri-Nations playing in the World Cup? I don't know his name therefore can't look it up. What has happened to him?

Also, I see Burger (not you Burger) may not play due to some misconduct hearing he has to go to. Bloody hell, if they don't call it on the field, the players are now subject to knit-picking video review and then called in for something days later?!

I did read what happend to SA after Burger went out against Scotland with a neck injury. They lost the next 5 matches.

Is it wrong to question the motives of this review board? Are they "betting gentlemen"? :cuss: Pete

Well, Burger is out for 4 matches and England Captian Vickery for 2, for tripping.

I'm sorry guys but this colonist has to comment, and yes, I will make reference to the NFL.

If they tried this type of crap, 2 million fans would launch these bureaucrats and the building they're in, into outer space.

It must be so wonderful to go back to your hotel and savor your victory, only to be disturbed by a knock on the door 24 hours later and hearing..." sorry son, it appears you botched a tackle and now you're in the shit....".

Put more officials on the field, one back judge behind each side. What happens in a match is then called on the spot, or it didn't happen, period. Video Ref is fine for determining trys and other events dealing with boundries etc., but not for fouls.

I'm expecting someone saying..."but, tradition has it that things work the way they are working....". Time for a rethink, times change, fans change, games and players evolve. Pete :guns:

It happens in Football and I think its a good thing.

Off the ball stamps, Elbows, etc that the ref doesnt see go to a video panel, makes sense to me.

Pete - it's nothing to do with tradition, the citing commission has been introduced in recent years. Players know the score and take their punishment.

Ironic that Schalk Burger has been banned for a dangerous tackle against Samoa; a side that has got away with committing some horrendous tackles over the years, having been given plenty of slack by referees because 'it's the way they play the game.'

Here's the Burger story link from BBC Sports, UK Edition. Scan down and find the "debate" link. Some vocal folks on there about all this, as well as the England Captain suspension. Pete
