Fallang price , I think!

Post by swanks »

You are all probably getting board with my questions now but this place is just great for me to get local knowledge so please bear with me a bit!

I saw a number of blue cards attached to various street furnisher with an advertisement for someone who can dig a well.

Being in the need of such a service I got my Mea to telephone him.

The price varies , he told her , then asked if it was for a Thai or Fallang.

Seeing no point in lying as he would probably see me she told him 'Fallang'.

200, 000Bt with pump !

He's having a laugh isn't he? My 'Issan' builders tell me a hand dug one is a quarter of that.
'Thai price' mentality still winds me up no end and after a particularly good session with two bar owners they swore an oath to do the same to Thai and charge them there version of 'Thai price' for drinks in there respective bars.
Sort of evens the playing field a bit! :D

So, does anyone know a man with a shovel and a pick as I don't want my Issan lads burying each other before they build my house!

This is funny.
My father in law had a well drilled in Isaan.
They drilled down to 25 meters and found the desired water.
The cost was 25.000 Baht, or 1.000Bt/m.
Naturally, we did not inform the driller that the bill was paid by a farang.
The two pumps needed had a cost of 2.500 Bt each.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Thanks for that , both of you!
I'm really glad I found this forum , it would have been a lot harder without it! :P
It's not a 'one way street ' though and if I have any information that will help someone I will gladly take the time to post it as I have in some of my previous posts.
The Fallang I have met in person here have all been just as good blokes so I think I made the right decision moving here. :D

Ex-pats helping fellow ex-pats. It has great survival value in this LOS!

Cheers

Stu

PS:-

Split lid , did you mention certification of the supply?
I didn't know about that . I just thought you dug a pit and pumped the water out when you needed it!
Is that about whether the water is fit to drink?

its illegal to put in a bore without permission from govt, they will come and inspect the proposed location (usually after the bore is dug) then when dug, samples of the water have to be given to govt for testing then they issue a certificate which allows you to use the water.i think that the cert lasts for 10 years.

cost is included in price of bore.

People with that attitude don't even deserve to get any business.

Unless of course falang wells are twice as deep as thai ones :D
