What does HHAD (members) have against Toro ?
I'm interested to know.... have ppl generally had more bad reports than good, or is it something else. I practically lived there for a week and found them to be most hospitable. I do note that once I was "Known" I seemed (via my lady friend) to get moved of the pool table rather quickly when a pack-ful of Brits would arrive. Seems new customers get prefernce over old, but that's simply business. I never had a beer go warm, or a bill I had to argue about. After a while the flower / watch / trinket sellers, et al, seem to leave you alone too. Must admit though, was kinda fun to have the flower sellers (most of 'em are only llittel girls) sit with me and my lady friend trying to show me the finer points of Connect-4. Still makes me chuckle.
anyway, Toro will be the first place i set foot in when i get back... wondering why it seems to get a bad rap.
Davo.

To be honest I'm fed up with the whole soi binterbart area, and haven't been into town for at least 10 months (I think this tends to happen if you have lived for some years) I drink at a nice quite, tourist free bar out of town, but cant tell you where as I want it all to myself....

I think it could be because it was of the more obviously girlie bars, when you are here all of the time it just isnt the most popular. Go in for a beer every now and again (beer has never been super cold!) but wouldn't really stay for more than one as a rule.
Guy who owns the place is a good fella, the bar just tends to attract more holiday makers, IMO.

Absolutely, Dr D!
Not sure where you got that idea from, OP, but the couple that run Happy Toro have been friends of mine for years. They're lovely people, and, as Dr D says, most of us mods were in there last weekend.

The OP may have been reading the below from the archives, as well as a few more from those days. Pete

I agree with you, Randy. Most of us who have been here for some time have found other venues. I visit the bar area once in a blue moon. There are many more 'local' restaurants/bars for a relaxing drink. I tend to go to an Isan restaurant nearby. A few huts on a piece of waste ground. Good food and 40 baht for a large Chang. My son and his friends have given it their own name - 'The Meadows'. Places like this make you very welcome, don't rip you off and none of the 'in your face' stuff you get in the town.

If that's the case, Pete, I wish people would look at the dates on the posts & realise that things are probably not the same 2 years later. Even the management has changed - hint 'Happy' Toro, now...prcscct wrote:The OP may have been reading the below from the archives, as well as a few more from those days. Pete![]()

thanx in advance
i would really appreciate to get to know the location of that " Isan restaurant nearby. A few huts on a piece of waste ground' area ". if someone wants to pm me the name and location i surely would by him (or her) a beer.
The Torro Bar always seems to be the busiest as they tend to have the nicest and youngest prostitutes. All the bars are the same, Pool Table, Fridge and Prosie's.
Take your choice, depends on what you are shopping for? If you want a nice draught beer then go to Crawford's, try Bacardi Bar near the Bus Station to Bangkok.
