A very poweful news broadcast

Post by bradders »

I trust Mods I have selected the right Forum Index for this post? If you wish to remove it or move it please do so. It's a very strong message/statement , which, depending on your own religion, values and opinions, you may find interesting......

Quote:

This may be TAKEN OFF THE WEB!! One impressive woman. Here
is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television.

The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles. I would suggest watching it ASAP because I don't know how long the link will be active.

You will see/hear there is reference to various religions including Bhudda.

Thanks Bradders, there appear to be a few gaps in the broadcast, but it's strong stuff and I'd love to know how you came across it.

I've looked at that post again, and it looks a bit like I might be suggesting some hidden agenda. Not. Just want to make it clear that I'm asking a straioghtforward question.

D-M (If I'm permitted to abbreviate your name?)

I "came across" the video simply by receiving it as an email from a friend - I agree it's a powerful message (broadcast) and like many I'm amazed this was permitted and actually aired on TV channels in the Middle East!

As mentioned, the 'link' provided could soon be deleted/banned - if so I doubt we will see something similar for a very long time - if ever again!

I still find it difficult to believe this was allowed to be broadcasted......

If only the world could find a way to live in harmony and peace - I anticipate someone here will suggest I 'dream on' - how sad - but even more sad that such wishes are no more than dreams! :(

Call me what you like, Bradders, but my name's Phil!

I really was quite surprised by the content of the link and impressed that it got out into the world. I will certainly pass it on and I hope many others will too.

speech

a very powerful & candid speech indeed.
i admire her bravery :thumb: .
she is though only giving an honest opinion with which most of the world can quite easily relate to.
no doubt there will be a reward offered for her execution by the cowardly fanatics that hide behind the banners of islam.
free speech such as this isn't usually common in the middle east so maybe the jazeera boys might be looking over their shoulder too. they also showed a certain amount of bravery to broadcast it :)
i'm sure when (or if) it hits the mainstream media there will be the usual cries of persecution towards the poor old muslims again,
yawn, yawn z z z z z z z z z z z z z z . . . . .

i can sleep easy in my bed at night now because the muslims will protect the world now
all religions are hypocritical in my opinion.
i can show tolerance to any of the faiths but i have no time or respect for those that support terrorism & wage war against innocent people in the name of that religion.

The last time I was in BKK the hotel I was staying at had Al Jazera on the TV. I have to say I found it quite good for news content and for a balanced outlook. Not what I expected at all. I fully expected it to be full of Bin Laden propagandists but actually saw loads of old British newscasters, I wondered where they all went to :thumb:

I would love someone from the muslim faith to offer their opinions on this board from time to time - regarding such topics as this. Would be very interesting indeed!

I can tell you the first step to"the way" Bradders. When ALL religions are destroyed and we begin relating to each other simply as human beings. Notice that the reasonable lady in the film said she was a secular humanist.
No matter what color, race, etc We all know what we want on the basic level of human existence: food, shelter, freedom, some kind of job that provides a descent life, and the ability to raise and enjoy a family in peace. That it. so simple, yet so hard to acheive with the prejudices of religion hung around most peoples necks.

Once religion is abolished, the next obstacles to peace are GREED AND POWER.

Isn't it funny how no-one ever mentions the Palestinian muslims and how they are being persecuted by Israel and the Iraq muslims how thay are also being persecuted by the USA.

It all seems to be one sided as far as I am concerned.

Very good point Jackie

Certainly there are some extreme and very unpleasant Muslim activitists/terrorists, and recently they have really increased their 'war against the West', but we should remember that Islam is one of the largest (if not the largest) religions in the world.

Mostly Muslim people do not follow the beliefs of these apparently powerful nutters that are trying to destroy the world. Sadly everyone get's tarred with the same brush.

Brave woman to state the things that she has said on the broadcast. I'm not so surprised that Al Jazeera braodcasted, I understood (only from what I've already heard) that they are quite liberal in their approach to real issues.

Its all too easy to label people

Jackie you are very correct to highlight the persecution of the Palestinians, the world seldom looks at the issues from their perspective.

Also we must acknowledge that there have been some (not so many), quite notorious names that have killed in the name of Christianity during the 20th Century, so we all should not assume that this trait is unique to the Muslim world. And also in the name of Judaism

Anyway, I'm sure I've typed enough to spark some feedback!
