Hua Hin animal park

Post by buksida »

Unknown to many there is an animal park/zoo in Hua Hin, you can get there by taking Soi Huay Sai which is about a kilometer after the Palm Hills turn off heading north on Petchkasem Road. Around 4 km down this soi on the left is the entrance to what is sign posted as a “deer research centerâ€

Other park residents included exotic birds, tortoises, porcupines and more gibbons.

The number of incarcerated Malayan Sun Bears and Asiatic Black bears is a recent campaign to stop the Chinese killing the bears for their body parts which the backward Chinese seem to think can cure all sorts of illnesses.

This is of course bullshit. What is true though is that a Chinaman's three piece suite if removed whilst still alive is a cure for Aids.

Was it the gibbons (apes) free swinging or the Macaques (monkeys)?

Well, there's a project for the HH willing. How much would a rebar enclosure 3-4 times the size of the current one cost? Probably peanuts to construct on site. With a sign in Thai and English of course announcing "Donated by the HH foreign community".

Big time would be a pit, moat, foliage, rocks etc. Pete

What do sun bears taste like anyway? I'll ask Mrs Jaime - she'll be sure to know...!

Mainly gibbons had the freedom, most of the monkeys and smaller species were caged.

Nice thought there pete but even organising a simple meet up is a nightmare in this town so unless its done officially I cant see much hope.
